AARP is Hiring a Program Research Manager Near Washington, DC

Overview:

AARP Foundation works to end senior poverty by helping vulnerable people over 50 build economic opportunity. The Program Research Manager designs, manages and conducts primary and secondary research projects using both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Uses advanced data analytical skills to develop insights to inform the organizations strategic and business decision-making. Leverages external resources and stakeholders to identify best practices and effective solutions to reduce senior poverty. Provides inputs for developing integrated content programs to elevate the organizations thought leadership.

Responsibilities:
  • Works with internal cross-functional teams to identify knowledge gaps and research priorities, determine scope of work and resources needed, and track budgets.
  • Uses data analytics, economic modeling, and other quantitative methodologies to generate data-driven insights about American older adults with low income and related subject matters.
  • Leverages a proprietary database, covering direct services programs and grantmaking projects, to develop insights for internal decision-making and/or external knowledge sharing.
  • Scopes and analyzes policies and best practices related to American older adults with low income through desk research, focus groups, workshops, and other methodologies.
  • Builds and leverages relationships with external stakeholders (e.g. national/regional leading NGOs, think tanks and academic institutions, government agencies) to identify insights, innovative/effective solutions, and best practices to achieve the businesss strategic objectives.
  • Leads and manages external suppliers to ensure the delivery of reliable, high-quality research services and products.
  • Synthesizes qualitative and quantitative research outputs into reports, briefing papers, PPT presentation, and other formats as needed.
  • Works with the Communications & Marketing department to develop engaging content assets to elevate the organizations thought leadership.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree.
  • Masters degree preferred.
  • 4 years of experience in research.
  • Experience independently managing research projects and programs, delivering on time and high quality.
  • Experience managing research projects and programs, delivering on-time and high-quality research products.
  • Proven ability to identify novel areas for research and define research approaches and methodologies that will deliver relevant and actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated ability with both qualitative and quantitative work.
  • Experience working with cross-functional interdepartmental teams across the enterprise.
  • Ability to translate research findings to engage external thought leadership and working at the intersection of markets, policy, and society preferred.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA) AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
