AARP Services also engages in new product development activities for AARP and provides certain consulting services to outside companies.

Exciting Opportunity: Portfolio & Product Development Manager - Emerging Business Team at AARP Services, Inc.

As the Portfolio & Product Strategy Manager within our esteemed Lifestyle and Emerging Business team at AARP Services, Inc., you will play a pivotal role in leading groundbreaking initiatives to enhance AARP's membership benefits program. Your responsibilities will encompass expanding existing products and services while identifying and introducing new offerings to enrich the AARP member experience.

Spearhead AARP's new product development initiatives, driving expansion and diversification of the membership benefits program. Extend existing and cultivate new B2B2C relationships, contributing to the growth and success of AARP's offerings. Oversee the entire new product development process for internally developed products, from origination through development to successful launch. Manage performance reporting for both new product pipeline opportunities and products in the market, ensuring informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement growth plans for existing and new B2B2C corporate relationships to create new AARP membership benefits within new product and services, increase revenue, and increase AARP member engagement
  • Conduct assessments at the portfolio level that include analysis of markets, products, consumers, etc., identifying new business-driven opportunities for member benefit expansion through B2B2C partnerships in new or existing markets
  • Perform product development to create new or spin-off products focused on older Americans that augment AARP's membership benefit portfolio; product development tasks are comprehensive from identification of the opportunity through execution, and include market research as well as design, build, test, and launch activities
  • Design and build new portfolio-level reporting that summarizes business KPIs; perform analyses that support strategic decision making at the portfolio level
  • Support business development and strategic relationship negotiations by creating analytically driven MS PPT presentations and pitch materials; PPT will be used extensively, and candidate's PPT skill set is expected to be best in class
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, including marketing, finance, account management, strategy, and legal to execute expansion initiatives seamlessly
  • Conduct project management including scope identification and schedule planning, progress reporting, dependency management, and identification and resolution of risks, issues, and blockers; create progress reports summarizing accomplishments
Qualifications
  • MBA is required
  • 5 years of experience in the following areas:
    • Portfolio and product strategy and innovation
    • Strategic relationship and category management and development
    • New product development, pipeline reporting and analysis
    • Expert-level proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel
    • Solid analytical skills with the ability to structure complex, open-ended problems
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills
    • Demonstrated analytical acumen with experience applying these skills to business development, operations, strategy, product, and other projects

Preferred:

  • 5 years of experience in management consulting with a significant background in industry/market analysis and building business cases for strategic commercial relationships
