AARP is Hiring a Development Fundraising VP Near Washington, DC

The Development Fundraising VP will partner with senior leadership to lead fundraising campaigns for the organization. Oversees the design and implementation of organization-wide donor relations and stewardship system to promote interaction with and recognition of donors at all levels. Collaborates with senior leadership to develop and implement long-term strategies to secure financial support from donors and funders to meet defined charitable goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Partner with senior leadership, other key organization management team members, and the board to envision a case for philanthropic support, aligning organizational needs with funder interests, and developing and executing strategic, innovative fundraising plans to grow revenue and exceed goals.
  • Leverage organization resources to identify, build, and frame new types of cross-disciplinary philanthropic initiatives to drive year-over-year revenue growth.
  • Partner with senior leadership to provide integrated strategic direction and design for all channels of fundraising to unlock potential increased funding opportunities in direct response, major gifts, planned giving, corporate and foundation relations, government grants, and collaborative fundraising programs with partnering organizations and affiliates.
  • Design and implement a cross-functional development structure to build capacity and foster a results-oriented, multiracial/multicultural team for organizational sustainability.
  • Collect, review, and synthesize fundraising progress and outcomes for ROI and timely updates to senior leadership; account for monthly/quarterly variances, forecasts, and KPIs, and adjust approaches to ensure achievement of goals. Analyze fundraising revenue reports across all fundraising channels to identify donors/prospects that can be added to the pipeline for renewal, cultivation, or increased giving to ensure fundraising goals are met.
  • Work cross-functionally with other development team members to maximize outreach and deepen relationships with high-value/high-stake donors and prospects.
  • Lead strategic donor moves management discussions with senior stakeholders, including the executive team, and board.
  • Evaluate and recommend new strategies to establish best practices for transformational fundraising focused on collaboration, efficiencies, and metrics-based performance outcomes in addition to primary role responsibilities. Represent and act on behalf of group executive or function when making decisions daily, when releasing information, and when coordinating projects or activities.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent and 10 years of strategic fundraising experience.
  • Proficient in leadership, capable of rallying teams toward common objectives.
  • Insights on the philanthropic landscape across the U.S. including best practices and emerging trends in philanthropy for optimal integration of various giving programs to diversify the funding base and cultivate greater donor commitments.
  • Analytical and decision-making skills, with proven experience in interpreting data to drive strategies along with financial acumen to deliver revenue forecasts.
  • Proven track record in implementing strategic fundraising campaigns.
  • Ability to articulate forward-thinking strategies and compelling narratives coupled with communication skills to engage senior external audiences.
  • Unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism, with an ability to lead diverse teams while promoting an equitable and inclusive environment where all team members are valued and have clear roles and responsibilities aligned with team goals.
