Job Summary:
Responsible for scheduling exams with time duration at the proper times and in adequate time slots. Schedules according to specific protocols for all exam modalities. Must obtain all pertinent information at the time of scheduling. Cross training within department is mandatory.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
· Schedules exams at proper times in adequate time slots.
· Performs contraindication screening.
· Exams scheduled for next day must have a valid requisition.
· Patients’ names must be spelled correctly with middle initial included. Ask for correct spelling at each scheduling to verify correct information.
· Follows proper patient search guidelines to prevent duplicate account creation.
· Correct insurance information must be obtained and entered into the patient’s visit.
· Customer service is top priority and must be maintained at all times. Problems with any offices, referring physicians, their office staff, or patients are to be reported to your supervisor immediately.
· Same day scheduling changes must be relayed to the appropriate department.
· Same day cancellations must be called to the appropriate control area.
· The standard for all schedulers is 75 points per day.
· After being in the department for at least 45 days, Scheduler must be able to meet and maintain the incoming calls standards of the scheduling criteria.
· Remaining below the defined standard for more than 3 working days is a concern, which will be addressed in the form of counseling.
· Department goal is 95% of incoming calls answered within 30 seconds.
· Returns voicemails left by patients and physician’s offices.
· Logs and indexes requisitions.
· Works with Supervisor and Compliance Committee to ensure the Compliance Program is followed.
· Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
