POSITION SUMMARY:

Assist providers of care in the family practice clinic. Ensure quality service and delivery of care to patients. Ensure service delivery environment is clean, well maintained, work flow runs smoothly and patients are treated with excellence in customer service. This position supports, promotes and furthers our goal of providing the highest standards of culturally relevant and sensitive professional service consistent with our mission.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Front Desk:

1. Serve patients by greeting and helping them, scheduling appointments, and maintaining records and accounts.
2. Collect client payment and record into practice management system as appropriate.
3. Ensure that customer calls are answered and routed appropriately.
4. Protect patient’s rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information.
5. Process patient document filing and retention of records as per policy.
6. Ensure reception and waiting areas are kept clean and de-cluttered.
7. Perform billing activities as per policy and procedure.
8. Process patient referrals as directed by providers.
9. Respond to patient questions and route as appropriate.
10. Coordinate and process medical records requests.
11. Other duties as assigned.

Clinical Duties(may include, but not limited to):

1. Take medical histories and administer screening questionnaires.
2. Explain treatment procedures to patients.
3. Prepare patients for examinations.
4. Assist the provider during examinations.
5. Collect and preparing laboratory specimens.
6. Perform phlebotomy and basic laboratory tests.
7. Instruct patients about medication and special diets.
8. Prepare and administer medications, including by intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injectionsincluding vaccinations/immunizations, as directed by a physician or other licensed provider (e.g., a nurse practitioner or physician assistant).
9. Transmitting prescription refills as directed.
10. Take electrocardiograms.
11. Perform wound care and changing dressings.
12. Order clinic supplies, perform inventory and stock rooms.
13. Perform daily quality control checks of laboratory devices are performed are performed asper policy and procedures.
14. Perform refrigerator maintenance tasks are performed as per policy and procedures.
15. Perform sterilization of instruments as per policy and procedures.
16. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Completed Medical Assistant program from an accredited school
• 2 years of customer relations job experience
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite of products

Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
