The project engineer’s primary role is to ensure that the discipline specific projects meet the company’s established design and drafting standards and comply with all applicable codes.

Description of Roles
The project engineer is an experienced Engineer that has a deep understanding of
what is required to produce discipline specific projects and an excellent
understanding of local construction practices and current codes. He should be
able to provide feedback and redlines to project managers in a practical and
constructive way, while at the same time helping the project managers to grow
and increase in knowledge.
Responsibilities include:
Review department projects (QAQC) including but not limited to 50%
progress sets, 75% progress sets and 100 final reviews.
Work with department and project managers and CA Specialist to
respond directly to RFI’s and/or provide the necessary guidance to
project manager and designers to answer.
Conduct and/or arrange training sessions for the department in areas
requiring improvement
Conduct site surveys when required.
CAD operator in the event of assisting the team to meet critical deadlines
Ensure all projects are completed to company adopted design and
drafting standards.
Ensure that excellent communication is being maintained with other
discipline project engineers.
Provide design or other assistance to teams to help complete tasks
Collaboration with Director of Operations:
Work with Director of Operations to make improvements to department
process.
Engineering the Future
Collaboration with Department Managers:
Daily check-ins with Department Managers.
Coordinate daily review schedule provided by department manager
Inform Department manager of any internal and external issues that
impact the department
Participate in and work with Department Manager to develop agenda for
weekly department meetings.
Work with the Department Managers to ensure that department training
is taking place.
Coordinate with Department Managers to determine which revisions
require an ASA
Work with Department Manager to make improvements to department
process.
Collaboration with CA Specialist:
Coordinate with CA Specialist to provide construction administration
assistance (CA) as needed.
Including but not limited to:
o Submittal review for gear
o Light fixtures
o Lighting controls
o Boxes
o Wires and conduit
Collaboration with Project Managers/Designers:Provide one on one training for Project Managers and Designers
Answering technical questions for Project Managers and provide design
direction.
This would include but not be limited to:
o Providing redlines
o Responding to emails
o Attending internal meetings
o Attending client kick-off / coordination meetings.
