Title: Sr. Human Resource Specialist

Location:  Client site - Hybrid – Springfield, VA

Contract duration: May-September

Role:

APV is seeking a Senior Human Resource Specialist for a well-defined contract assignment from May – September. This role will be remote except for pre-determined meetings in Springfield, VA. This position will be responsible for conducting thorough needs assessments, reengineering HR processes to improve efficiency, and developing a range of operational and procedural documentation. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of HR functions and the ability to translate business requirements into effective HR practices and solutions.

Duties: 

  • Needs Assessment: Conduct detailed analyses of current HR capabilities and identify areas needing enhancement or overhaul. Collaborate with HR leadership and other stakeholders to prioritize needs and plan implementations.
  • Process Reengineering: Lead the redesign of existing HR processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Apply best practices in process design to ensure alignment with overall business goals.
  • Operational Documentation: Develop, write, and update Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs) that clearly communicate HR policies and procedures.
  • Procedural Manuals: Create comprehensive procedural manuals that guide HR operations and ensure compliance with legal and organizational standards.
  • Terminology Dictionaries: Develop and maintain HR terminology dictionaries to ensure consistency and clarity across all HR documentation and communications.
  • Training and Development: Design and conduct training sessions for HR and other departmental staff on new processes and documentation to ensure smooth adoption and compliance.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior HR role, with a proven track record in process reengineering and HR documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of HR functions, laws, and best practices.
  • Exceptional writing and documentation skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in HRIS systems and MS Office, especially in creating detailed reports and presentations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working effectively with all levels of staff and management.
