A+ Communications & Security is Hiring a Low Voltage Technician (Fire, Security, Access Control) Near Des Moines, IA

Job Summary:

The Security and Fire Alarm Systems Technician works with the Security Manager and Lead Technician to coordinate installation of security and fire alarm systems

Duties/Responsibi l i t ies:

  • Installs, tests, inspects and repairs security and fire alarm systems.
  • Uses blueprints or building plans to determine proper systems to install based on building layout and setting.
  • Runs wiring and circuits, installs hardware, and attaches electrical wires.
  • Inspects and tests systems, batteries, and electrical wiring; makes adjustments and repairs as required.
  • Replaces malfunctioning hardware when necessary.
  • Ensures systems comply with electrical and fire codes.
  • Explains and demonstrates system function and operation to end users.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Required Ski l ls/Abi l i t ies:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read installation and system manuals.
  • Ability to read blueprints and building plans.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools to install hardware.
  • Ability to work at varying heights using ladders and man-lifts

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational/technical school training preferred; on-the-job training may be provided.
  • Ability to pass NICET I and II license in first year
  • Valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders.
  • Physically able to install system hardware and wiring.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move 75 pounds at a time.
  • Must be available for rotating weekend on-call service with other technicians
  • Travel within Hy-Vee trade area
  • Pass a DOT physical

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
