POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position: Director of Certification

Reports to: Chief Operations Officer

The Director of Certification supports PMG’s goals, values and philosophy by exhibiting the following behaviors: excellence, quality service, commitment and accountability. As a member of the PMG team, performance includes demonstration of the following accountabilities: communication, teamwork and job knowledge.

The position performs strategic and operational leader for organization’s initiatives related to credentialing programs. Plans and coordinates in conjunction with volunteers and staff. Identifies, proposes, and implements opportunities for non-dues revenue growth in concert with other staff. Manage and support assigned association committees, task teams, and technical liaisons. Ensures communication and understanding of these activities among the staff and volunteer leadership. Ensures accurate, consistent message in organization’s certification initiatives. 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, include the following but are not limited to:

Leadership and Development

  • Collaborate with other staff for strategic planning, roadmap, and goal development for professional learning and certification.
  • Collaborate with education delivery team to implement creative approaches to professional certification standards that appropriately engage advanced formats, assessment and learning and certification techniques, and uses of technology.
  • Consistent with the Board’s governing policies, identify, implement, and support initiatives to provide knowledge and tools to improve practice, workplace performance, and recognition of society certifications.
  • Assess current staff and contractor capacity to meet strategic goals.
  • Ensure continuous improvement and staff’s focus on high-quality work, enhancing efficiency, technical innovations, and member/stakeholder relations.
  • Oversee creation of analytical reports to monitor trends via real-time reporting, and track success metrics for society’s certification programs.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop staff to establish and meet credentialing team and individual goals, and ensure productivity, collegiality, and excellence.

Certification:

  • Develop and implement program growth strategies that elevate credibility and drive revenue.
  • Research and contract with certification research and testing vendors.
  • In collaboration with testing vendor, manage the development, delivery, and scoring analysis of certification exams.
  • In collaboration with testing/research vendor(s) and with volunteers, conduct job task analyses, item writing, item review and standard setting processes.
  • Serve as an escalation point of contact for member and customer communication for daily email and phone calls by exam candidates and prospects.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements related to certification.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of exams, scores, data management, policies, website accuracy, and correspondence.
  • Review/create/edit certification policies and procedures as needed (with a minimum of an annual review).
  • In collaboration with marketing team, develop communications and timelines for promotional strategies and Chapter/Region outreach related to certification.
  • Working with Certification Manager and Member Services Manager, develop internal communications for Member Services team to be aware of certification developments, timelines and FAQs.
  • Be aware of certification industry legal and government affairs developments, as well as trends.

Administration and Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop budgets and monitor spending to meet objectives.
  • Facilitate communication and understanding of strategic programs with staff.
  • Collaborate with meeting management and sponsorship contractors to complete design and implementation of a virtual appointment show event.
  • Assist with strategic and experience/environment design aspects of events, as requested by Chief Operations Officer and meeting management contractor

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, human resource development, business, communications,
  • Nonprofit management, or related field.
  • Certification, such as the CAE, ICE-CCP preferred 
  • Minimum five years of experience in the following areas:
    • Volunteer management 
    • Manage learning/certification/professional development programs
    • Project management
    • Developing and maintaining statistical data 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Position is in an office setting that involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions. On occasion, the individual must be able to do moderately demanding physical activity such as handling and opening boxes weighing 35-40 pounds, standing and walking extensively throughout the day.
