Description
Key Responsibilities:
Individualized Learning Support: Assess the learning needs of students requiring academic support and develop personalized plans to address these needs, ensuring alignment with the school's curriculum and environmental mission.
Collaborative Instruction: Work in partnership with classroom teachers to integrate academic support into regular classroom activities, emphasizing climate justice and sustainability where appropriate.
Resource Development: Create and curate a library of resources and tools for students, teachers, and parents that promote effective learning strategies and incorporate the school's focus on environmental advocacy.
Monitoring Progress: Regularly evaluate the progress of students receiving support, adjusting strategies as necessary to ensure continuous academic improvement and engagement.
Family and Community Engagement: Communicate effectively with families about their child's progress and how they can support learning at home, particularly with regards to environmental awareness and action.
Professional Development: Stay informed about the latest research and strategies in education support, special education, and environmental education. Share knowledge and strategies with colleagues to enhance the school’s overall teaching efficacy.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, Environmental Studies, or a related field. Master’s degree or certification in special education or educational support preferred.
A minimum of 1 year of experience in an academic support role, with demonstrated success in improving student learning outcomes.
Familiarity with a variety of instructional strategies designed to promote equity and inclusion in an educational setting.
Strong understanding of and passion for environmental and climate justice issues, with the ability to integrate these themes into academic support.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
