GENERAL INTRODUCTION:

The Archbishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ’s mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Archbishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them. (Directory on the Pastoral Ministry of Bishops, 198)

Each position employed in the Chancery helps to extend the ministry of the Archbishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Agape Service Project Food Bank and Social Services Manager, with the leadership and support of the Agape Service Project Director, will serve the mission of Agape by providing leadership, management, and support for all involved in the operation of Agape Food Bank and all community-focused social services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Work with the Agape team to accomplish the program mission and goals.
2. Build relationships while working with and serving the farmworker families, fellow staff, youth, adult leaders, and volunteers.
3. Work to build a hospitable, dignified, and joy-filled environment for guests and volunteers of Agape Food Bank and services.
4. Plan, operate, and manage all aspects of Agape Food Bank (set up, policies & procedures, promo, client intake, health fair, taco stand, donation collection, food ordering, inventory, cleanliness, etc.)
5. Plan, operate, and manage all aspects of Mobile Food Distribution (pre-planning, communication with farm HR, food ordering, supply management, etc.)
6. Plan and prepare all aspects of Summer Enrichment Activities for Farmworkers (pre-planning, supply purchasing, communication with farm HR, etc.)
7. Communicate plans, changes, needs regularly to Director/fellow staff and other necessary parties.
8. Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers.
9. Evaluate food bank and social services for improvement, including feedback from guests/recipients of services.
10. Implement the Agape Food Bank nutrition policy and growth goals.
11. Set up and maintain the Food Bank client database/intake system.
12. Order, receive, and store food, operating equipment, and supplies based on food bank operating procedures.
13. Serve the Spanish-speaking community with language access.
14. As needed: support additional aspects of the Agape program (group programming, spring planning efforts, etc.)

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Commitment to the mission and values of Agape Service Project
2. A good example for youth and a servant’s heart
3. Ability and desire to use God-given gifts and talents in service of the local Church.
4. Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
5. Strong organizational and information management with an attention to detail and accuracy
6. Be able to work well with and lead a wide range of ages, from youth to adults, and peers
7. Have a passion for social justice and desire to build community with local farmworker families
8. Ability to work under pressure in time constraints
9. Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple concurrent tasks
10. Ability to motivate others and foster an energizing, cooperative environment
11. Must be able to lift, unload, move food and supplies (at least 65 pounds)
12. Current CPR/First aid and Food Handlers required (or willingness to obtain prior to season)
13. Ability to work evenings and/or weekends.
14. Must be over 21 years of age, driver’s license required.
15. Bilingual (English-Spanish) is required.

LOGISTICS:

• Start date: April 24; End date: August 30
• 30-40 hours per week

• Operating equipment (pallet jacks, etc.) and driving vehicles (vans, trucks) for food pick-up, deliveries, and operations is required.
• Agape Food Bank and Social Services Manager will receive compensation of $25 per hour. In addition, meals during work hours are provided.

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
