29 Acre’s living community is located in Crossroads Texas approximately 30 miles north of Dallas. Located near the shores of Lake Lewisville, 29 Acres is a quiet community yet is only minutes away from the University of North Texas and all the major services and activities of the Dallas metroplex. It is easily accessible from several highways serving the North Texas area.
Position Summary
The Job Skills Trainer helps individuals understand their capabilities and interests and set career goals. They explore a client’s potential as it relates to the job market and coaches individuals in all phases of the job search process including but not limited to: teaching career readiness classes, providing job coaching, setting up volunteer and internship opportunities, meeting with potential and current employers, resolving issues.
Position Qualifications
  • Required: A minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • Required: Some experience working with individuals with ASD or Intellectual Disabilities
  • Required Certifications:
    • UNTWISE (Must be completed within the first 14 days of employment)
    • Company Training (Must be completed within the first 14 days of employment)
  • Required: Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test.
  • Required: Must hold a valid Texas driver’s license and possess an acceptable driving record.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Responsibilities
Primary Job Duties
  • Provide on-site job coaching when clients are placed at a job site.
  • Evaluate each client based on their specific milestones and create correlating reports for reference purposes.
  • Develop a network and contacts within the community for future employment needs.
  • Train others to job coach and on the needs of the customer
  • Serve as an advocate for customers.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Perform other assignments as delegated by the Director of Vocational Services
Slack/Communication
  • Maintain effective communication with all staff involved in the customers vocational plan (For ENRICH customers, this would be their coordinators - TA students, this would be Director of TA)
  • Meet monthly 1 on 1 with the Director of Vocational Services to review progress and discuss any concerns.
  • Conduct same day case notes in slack after coaching clients, with descriptive notes, observations, goals, successes, and feedback.
  • Provide same day case notes for any communication made with the client’s employer.
On-site Job Coaching
  • Occasionally check in with the employer to ensure the customer is continuing to meet expectations.
  • Assist clients with requesting days off or changing their availability as needed.
  • Obtain a client's weekly schedule and share with the Director of Vocational Services to ensure job coaching support is provided during their shifts (when necessary).
  • Maintain casual/business casual dress code (match the client’s place of employment dress code policies).
Administration Requirements
  • Clock-in and out using Paycor and let the Director of Vocational Services know of any missed punches.
  • Sign TWC paperwork as requested by Director of Vocational Services
  • Maintain yearly ANE, HIPAA & First Aid/CPR certifications and upload to Paycor.
  • Update driver’s license and car insurance to Paycor, ensuring it is not expired.
  • Upload UNTWISE certifications to Paycor and maintain 3-year certification (if your certification expires, 29 Acres will not re-pay for you to take the course again)
  • Submit mileage reimbursement through ramp at the appropriate times.
  • Input time off requests through Paycor AT LEAST 2 weeks in advance and add to google calendar, tagging Director of Vocational Services (if not 2 weeks in advance, you will receive 2 warnings before a write-up occurs)

  • Tailor coaching approaches to each individual's unique needs, fostering a supportive environment for skill development.
  • Communicate with clarity and sensitivity, ensuring that instructions and guidance are accessible and well-received by individuals with ASD.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in coaching methods, recognizing, and adjusting to the diverse learning styles and preferences of adults with ASD.
  • Collaborate with clients to identify challenges and develop effective problem-solving strategies, encouraging autonomy in addressing workplace issues.
  • Implement positive reinforcement techniques to motivate and encourage skill development, fostering a positive and empowering coaching environment.
