Job Description: District Sales Manager
Reports to: Director of Fresh Sales
Job Summary: Supervise and monitor Route performance to ensure world-class customer service through on-time deliveries, customer communication, and order demand fulfillment. Continually evaluate opportunities to maximize and grow sales volume and profitability.
Supervisory Functions
· Supervision of designated routes
· Responsibility for returns per designated routes
· Responsibility for administration of disciplinary action when needed for Company Drivers and Independent Distributors (breaches, etc.)
· Evaluation of Company Driver / Independent Operator performance
· Ride routes with drivers, when necessary
· Operate routes, when necessary
· Analyze Scan Base Trading Data
· Audit Scan Base Data if necessary
· Maintain current customer files & update data processing department as needed to ensure accurate customer contact information
· Train new Drivers and Distributors as needed
· Make emergency and special deliveries when needed
· Assist with collections on past due receivables
· Occasional overnights and weekends to support route loading process and sales related activities
· Support cross-departmental functions / needs as needed i.e. coordination with Accounting, Quality Assurance, Safety, etc.)
Sales Functions
· Responsibility for sales per route and district
· Responsibility for growing designated routes
· Build and maintain relationships with store owners, as well as store, deli, and bakery managers in all corporate accounts
· Collect leads from Driver Salespeople and solicit new accounts
· Develop programs for Driver Salespeople solicitation
· Ensure proper execution of all sales promotions and customer requirements in stores within district
· Attend new store openings
· Prepare new stores for opening day, i.e. bins, benches, point of purchase materials
· Attend trade functions and outings
· Travel up to 90% to support sales and customer needs
· Assemble and deliver displays for new and existing accounts
Related Functions
· Help at special events, i.e. MAFTO, Golden Slipper, trade shows as needed, etc.
· Complete an Incident Report if there are any injuries.
· Participates and assists in any audits when requested
· Follow and enforce all company GMP procedures. Document any violations
· Support without hesitation General Plant Safety, Food Safety, Food Defense Initiatives and Good Manufacturing Practices with an understanding that these are absolutes and are Priority #1.
· Assure that General Safety and Food Safety is an absolute priority by setting the example as a member of senior management.
· Perform all special requests by the Director of Fresh Sales
Work Environment
Working in a production facility and not just in an office. While in the production plant, you will be working around slippery floors and dusty areas. Very hot conditions during summer seasons. Protective clothing such as uniform and slip resistant shoes are required when entering the production floor.
Physical Demands
Work requires some physical strain such as long periods of standing, sitting, bending, climbing, and lifting overhead. Must be able to lift approximately 30 pounds over head.
Requirements
· Education - 4-year degree from an accredited institution or 10 years direct sales experience in lieu of a 4-year degree
· Valid Driver’s License
· Must demonstrate intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint
