GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: You will directly contribute to strengthening, shaping, and growing The Met’s foundation and government giving grant program, with a particular focus on government grants. The Associate Development Officer will report to the Deputy Chief Development Officer and work closely with all members of the team to oversee a comprehensive portfolio of foundation and government donors. You will oversee a comprehensive portfolio of foundation and government donors, manage grant development and implementation, project management, stewardship, and strategy, working with counterparts across the Museum, as well as external program staff. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Write, edit, and submit formal grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and other materials, working with the Deputy Chief Development Officer, other members of the Development Office, Museum leadership, curatorial, conservation, and interpretive departments; Collaborate with program staff throughout the Museum to ensure successful execution of grant-funded activities; review, edit, and submit grant reports, including detailed budget tracking, reconciliation, and follow-up; Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of the Museum's strategic plan, mission, and vision, as well as the collection, exhibitions, and programming, to effectively articulate The Met’s priorities and fundraising objectives to donors and prospects. Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the Museum’s government grants portfolio; produce a quarterly calendar for finance to ensure appropriate lead time for the preparation of proposal and report budgets. Work collaboratively on a team of six, contributing to the area’s day-to-day donor stewardship and administration, which includes donor interface, credit line review, guest list management, pledge agreement memos, event participation, and donor record maintenance Conduct research and prepare research material and giving histories for donor meetings. Work closely with Counsel’s Office to review and edit donor gift agreement. Additional duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS: B.A. degree in art history, journalism, English, or a related field required; M.A. preferred. Four or more years of professional development experience, preferably in an institutional giving, grant writing role Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills; ability to translate program descriptions into compelling proposal materials Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong computer skills and experience with MS Office Experience with Tessitura or other major development database system preferred Interest in the arts and a commitment to the Museum’s mission. COMPENSATION RANGE: Pay Range : $ 75,000 - 80,000 / Annually The advertised pay scale reflects the good faith minimum and maximum salary range for this role. The advertised pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage for any specific employee. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, special licensing or qualifications, and other factors. Location Requirements At time of employment, employees are expected to be located within commuting distance of the Museum. “Commuting distance” means that they are located in one of following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania (the “Tri-state and PA” areas), and be able to commute to and from the Museum in a single day.
