Job Description

Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant will assist the Senior Staff Accountant in maintaining the integrity of the General Ledger and Project Ledger.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Enters and posts customer invoices into Costpoint as billed by the project sites.
  • Researches and reconciles payment discrepancies.
  • Processes credit adjustments.
  • Enters and posts company cash receipts.
  • Maintains customer billing documentation.
  • Processes customer credit card purchases.
  • Submits each site’s A/R Aging report to the Project Manager monthly.
  • Creates and submits monthly A/R Aging reports.
  • Enters contract modifications into Costpoint.
  • Manages Wright Express (billing, tracking usage, ordering cards)
  • Enters general ledger journal entries as required.
  • Researches project ledger transaction detail as required.
  • Provides Deltek Time & Expense and Costpoint training to all site administrators.
  • Documents policies, procedures, and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Researches general ledger account transaction detail as required.
  • Contributes to department and organization special projects as assigned.
  • Assists with internal and external audits.
  • Provides backup support to the Payroll and Accounts Payable functional areas.
  • Identifies and recommends updates to accounting processes and procedures.
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Presents yourself in a professional manner at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Submit to and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of automated accounting system software and spreadsheet applications, (Preferred: Deltek Costpoint, specifically with Projects and customer invoicing with different types of governments contracts (e.g., CPFF, T&M, FFP)).
  • Proactive, adheres to deadlines, responsive to client and management requirements.
  • Extremely detail orientated with strong analytical skills.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of Accounting Principles (GAAP) and government contracting regulations (FAR).
  • Ability to manage work on multiple engagements with competing schedules and deadlines.
  • Advanced understanding of general and subsidiary ledgers and financial statements.
  • Exhibits strong ethics, positive attitude, and calm demeanor under pressure.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required).
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with a high level of difficulty.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration required.
  • Five years or more of related experience is required.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience working on government contracts.
  • Maximo and Costpoint experience.
  • OSHA 10.
