The Savannah Convention Center is currently seeking a full time General Maintenance Technician to join our family! Be a part of our team of the 330,000 square foot Savannah Convention Center currently undergoing expansion located directly across from historic Savannah and on the Savannah River. The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repairs of facility furnishings, equipment, and finishes. This position is also responsible for assisting in the repair and maintenance of HVAC, kitchen and refrigeration equipment, plumbing systems and installation of utilities for trade shows.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs preventative maintenance on facility riding equipment and small repairs on building equipment throughout the facility.
• Assists in the repair and maintenance of all kitchen and refrigeration equipment.
• Assists with repair and maintenance of facility HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
• Installs utilities for trade shows.
• Maintains temperature control and operation of facility heating and cooling units through building BAS system.
• Maintains log on equipment maintenance and enters equipment maintenance records on building CMMS system.
• Performs maintenance from assigned work orders and enters into CMMS system.
• All other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Exposure to adverse weather conditions and to various chemicals.
• Must have the ability to work flexible/irregular hours.
• Position requires extensive walking, occasional bending, stooping, lifting and climbing.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

• Solid knowledge of all systems and equipment as listed above.
• Proven and demonstrated expertise in these systems in a commercial environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, customers, vendors and visitors to the facility.
• Ability to multi-task and be a team player

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• High school graduate or equivalent (trade school training a plus).
• Minimum (3) years’ experience in the maintenance of building systems in a commercial facility. Certification/licensing may be required.
