POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position: Education Manager, CMSA

Reports to: Executive Director, CMSA

The Education Manager supports PMG’s goals, values, and philosophy by exhibiting the following behaviors: excellence, quality service, commitment, and accountability. As a member of the PMG team, performance includes demonstration of the following accountabilities: communication, teamwork, and job knowledge.

POSITION SUMMARY

The position performs high level administrative and management duties necessary to provide relevant and impactful education to the members of CMSA. The Education Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of education for case managers. Other key duties include overseeing the certification programs, Annual Conference educational programming, and securing funding for additional projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, include the following but are not limited to:

Serves as a liaison to selected committees: advise chair, attend meetings, prepare minutes, handle meeting logistics, etc.

  • Education/Program Sub-Committees and Task Forces
  • Grants Advisory Task Group
  • Certification Task Group

Oversee the educational content for the annual meeting.

  • Develop an educational program reflective of the evolving profession.
  • Determine educational tracks for the annual conference.
  • Work with Executive Director and Educational Content Manager to create deadlines for content.
  • Work with Educational Content Manager to send proposals to committee members for review and manage that process.
  • Manage the series of deadlines necessary to complete and manage the Education Committee’s work as it relates to the annual conference.

Oversee the development and implementation of education as driven by the organization’s strategic plan.

  • Provide strategic and budgetary oversight of educational program planning for the organization.
  • Direct creation of educational courses (online and/or in-person) through the identification of professional practice gaps and educational needs. Assure that the needs of all members and constituents are considered.
  • Develop curriculum and direct the creation of course content for the CMSA Knowledge Pathways; secure SMEs and oversee project from start to finish. Work with Educational Content Manager as needed on instructional design of courses.
  • Develop the organization’s monthly webinar series.
  • Responsible to ensure program implementation and member engagement through prospect outreach and building a marketing and communications plan with the Membership and Marketing Manager.
  • Develop and nurture meaningful relationships with educational influencers to assess available programs and needs.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend updates as appropriate.

Secure grants and funding to expand educational programs and resources.

  • Identify relevant grant and sponsorship opportunities to support educational development with the support of the Grants Advisory Task Group.
  • Submit and secure funding for new programs.
  • Execute deliverables for additional value.

Manage and oversee certification plan for CMSA:

  • Work with Certification Task Group to develop recommendation for potential certification opportunities.
  • Manage development of board-approved certification programs and process once finalized.

Additional duties as required:

  • Support Executive Director with special projects.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year university or equivalent experi
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a management role.
  • Demonstrated experience with educational course creation, project management, and volunteer management.
  • Transparent and high integrity leadership.
  • Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making, and reporting.
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee, train, and collaborate with staff.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Credentialing experience preferred.
  • Travel required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel strongly preferred.

Work Environment: Position is in an office setting that involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions. On occasion, the individual must be able to do moderately demanding physical activity such as handling and opening boxes weighing 35-40 pounds, standing, and walking extensively throughout the day. Limited to moderate travel is required.
