Gracious Hospitality Management is Hiring a Marketing and Communications Manager Near New York, NY

Gracious Hospitality Management (GHM) is seeking an experienced, self-motivated, and creative Marketing and Communications Manager who will play a key role in the success of a dynamic department that supports sales and promotes awareness of Gracious Hospitality Management’s various brands and all of its programs and activities. This will be an in-person role at our NYC Office from Monday-Friday. 

The Marketing & Communications Manager plays a central role within this fast-paced team by helping with a wide range of projects, campaigns, and initiatives, and by providing day-to-day support for the Vice President of Marketing & Communications. This candidate will also work closely with individuals across the company and many external vendors and partners. Aptitude for project management, organization, clear communication and follow through on tasks in accordance with GHM’s vision and standards is essential. 

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Production:

  • Work with our team’s graphic designer, liaise with external vendors and help manage the design, production and trafficking of branding and marketing materials, including standard organizational materials, promotional items to support sales, and seasonal campaigns.
  • Track and upkeep all production items in Master Production calendar.
  • Act as a primary point of contact with Pentagram, our external design and branding agency, filling out creative requests, scheduling meetings, and tracking all of the production of various projects.
  • Support Senior Digital Marketing Manager to produce and/or manage various videoshoots, photoshoots and events with our external creative partners and vendors.

Communications:

  • Support the Vice President of Marketing and Communications with day-to-day activities, helping to ensure the brand and messaging are appropriately communicated and represented across all platforms, internally and externally. 
  • Research and help build storytelling opportunities by gathering content for newsletters, social media and the website.
  • Act as a primary point of contact with our external PR agencies; help schedule meetings, provide follow up items, and share marketing plans and campaign details.
  • Plan, support, and staff all necessary media photo and video shoots based in NYC.
  • Maintain an organized record of all press for each property for social, website, and press kit use.
  • Coordinate all email signature updates based on business needs (hiring, awards promotion, etc.).
  • Build a comprehensive grid with GHM and property team bios and headshots; work with PR teams and property teams to conduct interviews and approve bios as needed.

Marketing & Project Management:

  • Develop comprehensive marketing plans and timelines around all annual initiatives, holidays, special menus, and external events; liaise with internal departments on operational functions and ensure clear communications so that teams are updated in a timely manner.
  • Manage, update, and upkeep the Master Marketing & Communications editorial calendar.
  • Assist with new business endeavors helping brainstorm new concepts, partnerships, events, media opportunities.
  • Project manage various sponsorship deals and act as a liaison with external partners. 
  • Research competitors, stay abreast of new projects and openings as well as key trends across various communication platforms, and perform regular spot checks on the accuracy of restaurant listings on digital platforms.
  • Manage and upkeep the company’s content archives.
  • Help manage the Marketing & Communications department budget, including processing all invoices, financial reporting, and budgeting.
  • Assist with calendar/meeting needs, note taking, call agendas and recaps, and drafting thank you notes as needed.
  • Assist with the creation, distribution, and logging of all donation certificates for all properties.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with the restaurant support teams to ensure a seamless and consistent customer experience.
  • Comfort turning unplanned content on tight deadlines
  • Liaise with internal departments on operational functions and ensure clear communications so that teams are updated in a timely manner.

  • Display knowledge of GHM brands, culture, and product.

  • Maintain professional and respectful behavior when in contact with guests, management, and teammates.

  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures outlined in handbooks, manuals, and other company documents.
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings, training sessions, and continuing education activities.
  • Take care of all company property.
  • Maintain safety, cleanliness, and sanitation standards.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of prior marketing and communications experience.
  • Experience with the production of marketing materials and overseeing the coordination of photoshoots is a must for this position. 
  • Be willing to regularly attend and cover restaurant and industry events that occur out of traditional office hours i.e. nights and some weekends.
  • Avid follower of news, politics, and cultural commentary across all media platforms, and a keen and demonstrated interest in the restaurant industry, food media and culture.
  • Detail oriented, energetic self-starter who is able to think creatively, resourcefully and strategically with a focus on superior project management skills.
  • Clear understanding of marketing versus communications job functions with previous experience in marketing, social media, partnerships, events, design, photography, and public relations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Fluency in English, multilingualism will be considered an asset.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative
  • Suite, Photoshop, AfterEffects, InDesign, Figma and willingness to adapt to new digital platforms is a plus.
  • Ability to:

    • Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
    •  Prioritize, organize and follow directions thoroughly.

    • Be flexible and creative with an ability to juggle multiple projects with tight deadlines.
    • Maintain confidentiality of media information and pertinent company data.

  • Exert well-paced mobility for periods of up to 12 hours per day and at least 60 hours per week.

  • Occasionally crouch and climb.
  • Sit or stand for prolonged periods at a desk while working on a computer.
  • May be asked to travel to visit vendors or different company locations.
