Urology Associates, PC is Hiring a Central Supply Sterile Technician Near Nashville, TN

Urology Surgery Center, L.P. - Nashville TN has an immediate need for a Central Supply Sterile Technician to join their team!
This team member is responsible for performing the duties of a CSS technician in the OR suite, principally by preparation of equipment and management of sterile supplies.

In accordance with the Mission and Vision of Urology Surgery Center, L.P., Center personnel provide services in an atmosphere sensitive to each person's physical, emotional and social needs with respect to the beliefs and values of co-workers, patients and their families.

  • Demonstrates competency upon hire in performing all related job tasks/functions.
  • Demonstrates cooperative work attitude toward and with co-employees, management, patients, visitors and physicians.
  • Maintains certification in BLS.
  • Cross-trains in other Center areas to serve as staff team member.
  • Working knowledge and comfort with computer use.
  • Maintains regular attendance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the care, preparation, maintenance and after-care of sterile and unsterile supplies and equipment.
  • Knows and practices the principles and techniques of sterile processing.
  • Cleans instruments and equipment after use and returns to proper area for storage or processing.
  • Differentiates sterilization methods required for specific instruments and equipment.
  • Demonstrates ability to understand and use autoclaves, sonic cleaner and rinser / dryer.
  • Assists with turnover of Operating Rooms when needed.
  • Assists with stocking, replenishing and preparation of supplies.
  • Updates knowledge in sterile processing techniques.
  • Assists in the maintenance of the system for defining Center’s supply/stock needs, utilizing par level method.
  • Participates in Center-sponsored community events/marketing activities as requested.
  • Performs all other duties assigned.
  • Attends required in-service education, meetings and participates in committees as requested.
  • Demonstrates understanding of personal responsibility and activities related to the OSHA programs including hazardous materials and bloodborne pathogens.
  • Directly responsible for identifying and reporting adverse or dangerous situations without fear of reprisal.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED required.
  • Successful completion of Central Supply Services Technician course or prior CSS experience, preferably with certification.
  • Certification in BLS.
  • Prefer two years previous employment in related field.
  • Knowledgeable in fundamentals of sterilization procedures, aseptic techniques, and maintenance and care of equipment.
  • Minimal knowledge of surgical procedures, needs and steps in use of materials.

WORKING CONDITIONS (PHYSICAL)

Requires extensive mobility, walking, standing, stooping and bending. Pushing, pulling, and lifting of equipment up to 75 pounds and patients up to 250 pounds. Requires exposure to contaminated/biohazardous wastes and bodily fluids as well as harsh cleaning agents and toxic chemicals. Requires use of medical and mechanical equipment, requiring full manual dexterity and eye/hand coordination. Requires mental alertness and accuracy for quality patient care and decision making, as well as ability to work under stressful, hurried conditions. Must have physical stamina to work extra hours if needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS (ENVIRONMENTAL)

Works in well-lighted and ventilated area with complicated equipment, some of which is hazardous in nature. May be exposed to patients who have communicable diseases. With proper techniques, this risk should be minimized.
