Urology Associates, PC is Hiring a Pre-Admissions Registered Nurse Near Nashville, TN

Urology Surgery Center, Nashville TN has an immediate need for a Pre-Admissions Registered Nurse to join their team!

This full-time clinician is responsible for therapeutic, effective patient / family-center care according to physician order, in compliance with the philosophy of the Center, standards of practice and regulations of governing agencies.

In accordance with the Mission and Vision of Urology Surgery Center, L.P., Center personnel provide services in an atmosphere sensitive to each person's physical, emotional and social needs with respect to the beliefs and values of co-workers, patients and their families.

  • Demonstrates competency upon hire in performing all related job tasks/functions.
  • Demonstrates cooperative work attitude toward and with co-employees, management, patients, visitors and physicians.
  • Maintains Continuing Education Units (CEUs) as required by the State Board of nursing.
  • Seeks and maintains certification in ACLS, PALS and BLS.
  • Cross-trains in other Center areas to serve as staff team member.
  • Working knowledge and comfort with computer use.
  • Maintains regular attendance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Functions as Pre-Admissions nurse under the direct supervision of the OR Supervisor, with the primary function of obtaining medical history of patients prior to surgery order to assure a safe and effective surgical experience for the patient and their family/significant other.
  • Continually evaluates the patient’s progress toward the desired outcomes and revises the plan of care and interventions as necessary.
  • Performs a systematic and continuous assessment of the patient and assures that all data are collected, documented and communicated.
  • Recognizes legal and policy limits of individual practice.
  • Recognizes the importance of teamwork.
  • Respects patients right to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
  • Provides a safe, efficient and supportive patient atmosphere.
  • Assesses social and emotional, as well as physical needs of patients and implements appropriate nursing interventions accordingly.
  • Is cognizant of health care cost.
  • Attends required in-service education, meetings and participates in committees as requested.
  • Is knowledgeable of and in compliance with administrative, medical and nursing policies and procedures.
  • Reports and completes appropriate forms for incident to patient, visitors, and employees.
  • Provides education to patient/family relating to his diagnosis and the planned surgery or procedure.
  • Assures that the patient is given appropriate preoperative instructions based on their preoperative assessment and interview.
  • Provides patient with written materials to outline instructions and information needed.
  • Performs 12 lead EKG and venipuncture as ordered by physician.
  • Reports to supervisor needed repairs of maintenance of equipment or building. In the absence of the supervisor, notifies the appropriate repair services and follows up to be certain the problem is resolved.
  • Is responsible for organization and neatness of work area.
  • Documents physicians’ orders.
  • Is knowledgeable and responsive to emergency situations (i.e., cardiac arrest, malignant hyperthermia, adverse drug reaction, fire, etc.).
  • Assists in the maintenance of the system for defining Center’s supply/stock needs, utilizing par level method.
  • Participates in Center-sponsored community events/marketing activities as requested.
  • Performs other duties assigned.
  • Demonstrates understanding of personal responsibility and activities related to the OSHA programs including hazardous materals and bloodborne pathogens.
  • Assists in collection of data for Performance Improvement activities in the surgery center.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
  • Two years related nursing experience desired.
