Palermo’s is hiring a Bakery Scientist for its team in Jefferson, WI.

The Bakery Scientist will apply bakery scientific principles in research, development, production technology, quality control, and processing. This role assists in the development of pizza crust concepts, products, and optimization projects through a vigorous consumer-driven R&D process. Additionally, this role may be asked to lead technically complex and multi-function project teams.

Job Duties:

• Identify, evaluate, and develop potential new pizza crust or similar bakery items
• Demonstrate initiative, creativity, and thoroughness in the execution of complex projects
• Plan and conduct independent research projects and participate in the development of objectives
• Evaluate technical trends and make recommendations for process or product improvement
• Conduct or supervise the testing of new products in test kitchen, the development of specific processing methods in bakery pilot plant and scaling products up in manufacturing facilities
• Organize and direct sample development for sales presentations, consumer testing and food safety assurance
• Provide technical support/serve as product development contact for Sales, Customer and Operations

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in bakery science, food science, biology, chemistry, culinary arts, or similar, required
• 3 years of experience developing products in the food industry, preferably pizza related
• 3 years of proven leadership experience, required
