Job Description

The Addiction Science Team at UMSL-Missouri Institute of Mental Health (UMSL-MIMH) conducts grant implementation and evaluation services for several federally- and state-funded research and service grants focused on substance use prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction efforts across Missouri. Our overarching goals include preventing overdose deaths, promoting the dignity and worth of people who use drugs, and reducing barriers to evidence-based treatment and recovery services. We accomplish this through training, advocacy, building and supporting community-based programs and partnerships, evaluation, quantitative and community-based research, and outreach. Given the diversity of the communities we serve, it is essential we approach our work with a focus on equity and an attitude of cultural humility.

The Recovery Services Manager will be responsible for the daily oversight, collaboration, evaluation, and research of recovery focused programming in the state of Missouri. This includes leading research around specific recovery focused projects including recovery housing, recovery community centers, peer respite crisis stabilization, faith-based recovery programming, and family-focused recovery efforts. The Manager will provide oversight and supervision of 1 recovery-focused staff members, as well as develop recovery focused research questions, lead and collaborate on the development of evaluation approaches, assist with analysis and interpretation of results, develop dissemination plans for evaluation findings, and collaborate closely with state partners on development and implementation of any new recovery focused projects. This role will also assist with identifying new funding streams for recovery focused work and development of new project proposals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee all the daily research and evaluation efforts around recovery focused projects.
  • Collaborate closely with other Addiction Science leadership and managers, as well as the state Department of Mental Health regarding recovery research and evaluation projects.
  • Develop research and evaluation plans for recovery programs across the state, including qualitative and implementation science-oriented approaches.
  • Lead the distribution and dissemination of research findings and reports, including the accurate tracking and storage of data, for all recovery focused projects.
  • Provide leadership, design, and planning support for new programs through grant support that is recovery focused.
  • Collaborate with new contractors and sub-award partners to ensure collaborative evaluation and research design.
  • Work with staff to address barriers and gaps in service needs and provide problem-solving approaches.
  • Ensure the completion of all required federal and state grant reporting and documentation that is specific to recovery evaluation.
  • Provide supervision and oversight to 1 staff (recovery services project coordinator), as well as indirect oversight to other team members, including the coordination and completion of regular check-in meetings, evaluation, hiring, and on-boarding.

Shift

8am-5 pm; This will be a hybrid work position with days that consist of in-office, community, and remote work.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's in Public Health, Social Work, Psychology or related field preferred.
  • Possess at least a moderate understanding of substance use disorder - particularly opioid use disorder - and the role of overdose prevention and evidence-based treatment strategies in combating the opioid overdose epidemic.
  • Recognizes ways that race, and other identities intersect in the work, especially with communities we serve and is comfortable talking about identities such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, class, ability, or gender in plain, specific terms.
  • Possess a high level of organization, self-direction, and dependability.
  • Ability to navigate Zoom /Teams Video Conference systems and Microsoft Outlook Calendar.
  • Have a valid driver's license and vehicle insurance.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Pay commensurate with education and experience.
Hiring Range: $58,573 - $83,304 Annual
Grade: GGS-11
