SUMMARY:
Outlines and implements training programs about employee safety procedures and accident protection and prevention. Responsible for the overall safe work procedures of projects, consistent with Company, government, and contractual requirements.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for the safety and well-being of company employees, maintains good client relations, client confidence, and enhances prospects for future business.
2. Develops, implements, and administers the safety, health, environmental protection, and substance abuse prevention programs affecting employee and public safety, occupational health, and fire protection and prevention.
3. Creates jobsite-specific safety manuals and reviews with Project Managers.
4. Develops and distributes safety educational materials, plans and coordinates safety and health classes for craft and supervisory employees.
5. Attends and supervises weekly jobsite Ludvik Safety Meetings.
6. Inspects company job sites and recommends corrections or additional precautions to ensure compliance to OSHA regulations and exceptional safety practices.
7. Provides technical assistance to office and field to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local and company safety and environmental regulations.
8. Manages Workers Compensation claims, accident investigations, early return to work program and company policy regarding accident reporting.
9. Coordinates and/or conducts required industrial hygiene tests in order to eliminate or control hazards which would contribute to, or result in, an occupational illness.
10. Investigates injuries, conditions and incidents that do, or could, involve actual or potential liability.
11. Supervises regular company Project/Superintendent/Supervisor/Foreman meetings with emphasis on safety updates, recurring accidents and new procedures concerning safety.
12. Supervises and/or conducts inspections of equipment, structures, and work in progress to ensure that regulatory safety, health, and environmental standards of the company and all applicable codes are followed.
13. Addresses individuals for unsafe practices and gives written warning notices; communicates with superintendent upon degree and/or repetition of all violations.
14. Maintains adequate records of data and compiles or initiates the compilation of the required reports on individual job occupational injury and illness experience.
15. Monitors jobsite compliance with all MSDS, SDS and Hazardous Communications compliance; monitors each and every employee's safety training keeping employee file complete with safety issues and training.
16. Sets up drug testing/safety administration training as required by the contract job specifications.
17. Assists Superintendent in the creation of specific Job Hazard Analysis.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Minimum five years safety experience in the construction field.
2. Maintains compliance by using modern management techniques to achieve predetermined objectives of no injuries, zero lost time accidents, and participant satisfaction.
3. Excellent background in safe construction methods, communications, and safe management of construction materials, equipment, and human resources throughout the life of a project.
4. Has obtained outreach Training Authorization cards in construction OSHA10 and OSHA30 trainers and general industry.
5. Has obtained First Aid, CPR and AED instruction cards.
