US Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation is Hiring a Claims Data Scientist, (TERM Appointment NTE 2 Years) CG-1560-13 Near Salt Lake, UT
Duties
- Implements analytic tools for Claims Administration systems, applications, and end-users to improve the efficiency of program operations. Analytic tools include artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) models, data visualizations, and other analyses supporting research, policy and risk assessment for insurance, supervision, and resolution activities.
- Applies complex analytical techniques such as statistical and econometric analyses, machine learning algorithms, data mining, metadata management, and data standardization to data management and deposit insurance matters. Develops auditable, flexible, repeatable, and scalable extract transform and load (ETL) or extract load transform (ELT) capabilities on structured and unstructured data sources in a variety of formats from multiple sources.
- Gathers, analyzes, and presents a wide range of information pertaining to FDIC-insured commercial banks and thrifts, deposit insurance determinations, deposit payment transactions, and industry trends. Reports findings, conveys complex concepts and conclusions to Branch, Division and Corporation senior management, and translates results of analyses into clear, actionable communications that equip business decision makers to make informed, data-driven decisions.
- Researches and investigates new or improved business/management practices or automation to enhance the effectiveness/efficiencies of Divisional programs or operations. This includes analyzing new or proposed legislation or regulation and evaluating proposed changes in mission, operating procedures and delegations of authority, to determine impact on program operation.

The candidate selected will be offered a term appointment not-to-exceed two (2) years which may not be extended beyond the maximum (4) four year time limitation.

Qualifications
CG-13: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 12 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as (1) designing or developing data analytics/science financial products using probabilistic modeling, structured finance modeling, machine learning, or artificial intelligence; (2) conducting analyses using software and/or SQL, Python, R or Apache Spark to test hypotheses and predict outcomes; or (3) using data tools and techniques to process datasets into structured formats for matching analysis.
In addition to the specialized experience above this position requires:
Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.

Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.

The range of pay shown includes base pay plus supplemental locality adjustments. The locality rates for these duty locations range from a low of 16.82% to a high of 51.75%.
