Job Summary: Responsible for operating the telephone communication center between the public and patients, physicians and personnel. Answering multiline phones and routing all calls to the appropriate personnel.

* Newport Hospital and Health Services consists of:
* 24 bed Rural Community Hospital - Trauma Level IV
* 15 providers Rural Health Clinic
* 72 bed, high level care, Advanced Assisted Living Facility
* 42 apartment; low-moderate care level Assisted Living Facility
Education Background and Experience
Minimum Education:
* High School Graduate/GED or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with Epic EHR system
* Prior knowledge of a communications system
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Professional Requirements
* Maintain regulatory requirements.
* Report to work on time and as scheduled; complete work within designated timelines.
* Demonstrates the ability to adhere to the mission, ethics and goals of the District.
* Demonstrates the ability to communicate with patients, guests and staff in a courteous, respectful and helpful manner.
Essential Job Functions
* Coordinates, handles and processes incoming and outgoing calls on a multiline business telephone system.
* Use of the overhead and telephone paging system to announce hospital codes or other communications.
* Use of two-way radio.
* Answers all calls in a timely manner.
* Ability to prioritize calls.
* Ability to locate patients using the hospital computer system.
* Recognizes the Private Encounter flag to protect patient confidentially.
* Knowledge of hospital emergency codes
* Demonstrates good written and verbal communication with other departments which require PBX assistance.
* Supports a positive image to all by identifying themselves when answering a call.
* Uses a pleasant tone and correct grammar when answering calls.
* Keeps co-workers informed of changes made to effectively transfer calls to the correct location.
* Answer questions of caller according to hospital policy.
* Communicates well with concerned patients and their families.
* Demonstrates a strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems effectively.
* Knowledge of basic computer skills.
Compensation/How We Care For You:
Successful candidates typically begin between the beginning and midpoint of the compensation range ($16.82 - $19.81/hour) dependent on qualifications/experience and receive compensation increment increases annually.
