Summary:

SUMMARY:

This position leads the operations of the onsite Employee and Occupational Health Services (EOHS) Well-being and Integrated Absence Management programs. This position reports to the senior vice-president of Human Resources

  • Collaborates with the dyad partners to support the strategic vision direction of Employee and Occupational Health Services Well-being and Integrated Absence Management for the system.
  • Collaborates with dyad partners to ensure systematic approach is used for the delivery of employee and occupational health care while ensuring compliance with local state and federal regulations and regulatory requirements as well as equity access and treatment in all areas.
  • Provides clinical leadership for system Employee and Occupational Health & Worker�s Compensation matters and provides subject matter expertise as well as clinical oversight of Occupational Claims for Workers Compensation. Acts as medical subject matter expert in Worker�s Compensation matters.
  • In this highly matrixed role the incumbent is responsible for partnering with the dyad partners with Employee Health Well-being & Integrated Disability Human Resources Safety Officer Medical Director of Infection Control Chief Medical Officer and acts in a consultative manner for all entities within the system where expertise is required.

Responsibilities:

I. Administrative Responsibilities

A. Program Support

1. Collaborates with Employee and Occupational Health Services and Well-being Directors for development implementation and revisions on policies affecting clinical practice parameters patient protocols and quality of employee and occupational health care.

2. Works to ensure operations are consistent with professional standards for occupational medicine. Provides assessment of program policies and procedures as needed.

3. Develops key indicators and quality measures to adequately ensure the delivery of high quality cost effective clinical services in Occupational Health. Develops or assists in the development and updating of occupational health policies and procedures consistent with applicable legal mandates best community medical practices and guidelines as well as organizational missions and goals.

4. Collaborate with Infection Control Legal Human Resources RI Department of Health and many other key partners that contribute to employee safety and well-being.

5. Collaborates and provides clinical expertise and oversight to the Transitional Work Program Worker�s Compensation FMLA and Case Management

6. Committee membership and responsibilities as deemed necessary.

B. Medical Advisor to EOHS/ Well-being/Integrated Disability and Benefits Teams

1. Provides written medical updates that reflect changes in industry regulations and federal guidelines as it relates to medical practice and protocols based upon evidenced based practice.

2. Serves as advisor to the EOHS staff in matters of regulatory compliance OSHA DOT drug/alcohol testing hazardous materials and exposure issues as they relate to communications with clients to ensure that consistent and accurate information is being provided to employees.

3. Assists in the development of practice parameters for occupational medicine provided within the program.

4. Develops standing orders and treatment guidelines jointly with the Director of EOHS

5. Co-leads EOHS Well-being and Integrated Absence Management strategies based on clinical evidence-based practice.

II. Clinical Support

A. Clinical Advisor/Provider

1. Delivers clinical care to employees particularly in difficult or complex cases. Assumes a lead role in resolving patient related issues that require medical expertise and/or management support. When functioning in this capacity the physician is acting independent of the role of Medical Director

2. Supervises the advanced practice providers in EOHS practices and is responsible for their recruitment and retention. Provides opportunity for growth and education for clinical staff. Participates in teaching staff.

3. Monitors and enforces the actualization of program protocols and service standards by participating provider practices via monthly review of patient cases. This review will be provided as standard peer review format.

4. Consults regarding appropriate treatment plans disability practice protocols.

5. Responsible for monitoring and enforcing the credential criteria for the program which must comply with licensing certification and other accrediting bodies and standards.

6. Promotes and fosters a positive professional attitude amongst personnel particularly regarding customer services and client interactions.

III. Education

1. Develops and coordinates professional workshops with timely occupational health topics and new regulatory guidelines for participating personnel.

2. Participates in the presentation of these educational programs for the clinical staff.

3. Provides recommendations for continuing education courses specific to occupational health regulatory compliance legal issues clinical pathways case management or employer trends for participating clinical staff.

4. Current BLS certification form American Heart Association

OTHER DUTIES:

Participates in implementation of company initiatives to ensure compliance with OSHA CDC HIPAA AAAHC and other mandated regulatory or conformance regulations/standards.

� Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experienced collaborator with excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills and proven ability to influence others internal and external to the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population of individuals.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • Ability to multi-task and reliably manage multiple projects through inception to completion on schedule in a complex challenging environment. Flexibility to adjust to constantly changing priorities.
  • Must possess and maintain a current active full and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician in RI
  • Maintain board certification in Occupational and Environmental Medicine or shall attain board certification at the earliest possible date immediately following the commencement date of the contract in the specialties identified.
  • 3-5 years� progressive leadership experience in complex academic medical center hospital or health system.
  • Accomplished operational and strategic leader with direct administrative experience to include a broad understanding of complex health strategies and issues challenging the field of academic medicine.
  • Must have knowledge of TJC OSHA and other federal state and local environmental health and safety regulations.
  • Strong analytical and evaluative abilities excellent organizational and communications skills and demonstrated managerial experience in triaging multiple tasks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work involves prolonged periods of sitting computer operation good eye/hand coordination and lifting to 25 lbs.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Requires proficiency in the operation of a computer medical equipment for physical exams emergency medical equipment and standard office equipment.
