Job Description

Job Title: Construction Inspector
Location: City of Aberdeen DPW
Company: City of Aberdeen

We are seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to join our team. The ideal candidate will have intermediate experience in construction inspection and an understanding of building codes and regulations. The Construction Inspector will work closely with the Compliance Supervisor to ensure that construction projects are completed according to specifications and within regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities:

-Inspections related to the full range of projects performed by City employees as well as projects performed by private contractors for the City.

-Inspects municipal and developer funded projects and determines whether construction plans are adhered to, and that sediment control, storm water management, and forest conservation requirements are met. Also ensures that a safe construction site is maintained and confirms with City, County, State, and Federal regulations, and requirements

-Reviews and comments upon project plans prior to start-up to ensure compliance; represents the City at pre-construction conferences to outline project requirements.

- Assist in the preparation of inspection reports and other documentation

- Keep up-to-date with changes in building codes and regulations

- Perform other duties as assigned by the lead inspector or management

Requirements:
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

-Advanced computer skills including spreadsheets, database, Beehive, GIS and computer-aided- design software and other City-specific systems.

-Strong written and oral communication skills.

-Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and four years of experience related to construction, maintenance, or repair; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

-Considerable knowledge of equipment, materials, methods, and procedures of construction, maintenance and repair and construction codes, regulations, and environmental laws.
