JOB TITLE : Corporation Sub School Bus Driver
TYPE OF POSITION : Classified
REPORTS TO : Transportation Director
POSITION PURPOSE : Drives school bus and other school vehicles to transport students, faculty and administrative staff by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

1. Assist students and other passengers to enter and leave vehicle and load and unload baggage and luggage.

1. Performs miscellaneous errands such as carrying mail between schools.

1. Makes overnight drives and extended trips requiring irregular hours as required.

1. Keeps vehicle clean, polished and in operating condition.

1. Makes arrangements for needed service and mechanical repairs.

1. Maintains order and discipline among the children transported.

1. Operates the assigned bus on the scheduled routes on the time schedule fixed by the employer.

1. Fills the bus with gasoline/diesel as authorized; checks and adds oil as needed; checks the lights, tires and other parts of the bus on a regular basis to be sure they are in safe operating condition.

1. Reports on time and fills in for Bus Drivers and Bus monitors in the event of their absence for any route when necessary.

1. Drives for field trips and extracurricular activities as needed.

1. Drives and replaces buses in the event that a bus cannot complete their route.

1. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

1. Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

1. High School diploma.

1. Ability to communicate effectively with groups of students and parents.

1. Skills in human relations.

1. Ability to plan and organize; good work habits.

1. Possess a valid state commercial driver's license.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
