Surly Brewing is Hiring a Shipping and Receiving Clerk Near Minneapolis, MN
- Is internally certified to operate all the powered lifts. Maintains records of inspections.
- Report repairs needed to the forklifts, doors, and wrappers to maintenance when needed.
- Utilizes powered and manual material movers to move finished goods and supplies.
- Wraps outbound shipments using automated wrapper and manual wrapper if necessary.
- Safely loads and unloads trailers at docks and from ground level.
- Properly labels outbound shipments with correct information.
- Completes all paperwork properly and maintains records as needed.
- Reviews production schedules to determine needed supplies and scheduling of shipments.
- Uses Obeer to express production runs, perform transfers, and monitor inventory and schedule.
- Uses company email and mobile phone to communicate with co-workers as needed.
- Organizes assets smartly to maximize storage and keep paths of travel clear.
- Works with brewers, cellar staff, and front of house staff to get their transfers completed.
- Audits all incoming shipments for accuracy before accepting delivery.
- Communicates with internal and external delivery persons to organize shipments.
- Keeps all their work areas tidy and clean including the outside dock area.
- Communicates to appropriate staff in a timely manner any problems as they arise.
- Assists packaging as needed including cleaning and manual labor tasks.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Strong organizational skills for physical assets and time management.
- Strong attention to detail in their work.
- Demonstrates above average skill and safety when operating lifts and handling goods.
- Good communication skills both written and verbal.
- Competent in Orchestrated Beer, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, general PC use.
- Able to adapt to changes and challenges with a professional presentation. Calm under pressure.
- Flexible to work when production demands shipments to take place and fill in where necessary
- Previous forklift experience on gas and electric, stand up and sit down.
- Previous warehouse experience. Preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
- Experience in SAP inventory software or better yet Orchestrated Beer.
- Training and experience using personal computers and Microsoft application.
- Is responsible for monitoring all packaging supplies and communicating deficiencies to leads.
- Works with our truck driving staff to schedule their trips between locations.
- Handles incoming shipments including the drivers. Refuses and redirects incorrect shipments.
- Greets all unknown persons entering our dock doors. Turns away unauthorized visitors.
- Helps prevent internal theft by assisting in the monitoring of materials leaving the building.
- Typically, an eight-hour shift extra hours may be required to complete computer transactions or participate in special shipping situations.
- You will be exposed to the elements as you load and unload shipments. Your station is near the back doors where the climate is less controlled. Special weather appropriate or inclement weather apparel is recommended. Always wear required PPE according to company policy.
- Because your job requires you utilize your personal mobile device during your workday a stipend will be provided in your paycheck. You are not required or technically allowed to utilize your company email while off the clock despite it being present on your personal device.
- Due to your responsibilities to safely operate heavy machinery and drive lifts you may be excluded from beer sensory events if they conflict with your ability to safely perform your work
