Position Summary
The Office of International Programs at Winston-Salem State University is seeking to fill the position of Coordinator. The Coordinator of OIP will assist in the designing, implementing, and overseeing processes of international student recruitment, scholar services, education abroad, and comprehensive internationalization strategic initiatives.

Department Required Skills
Required: bachelor’s degree, 5 years of experience in international programming. Preferred: degree in global or international studies or equivalent. Extensive experience in global studies with underrepresented populations; passport eligible, working knowledge of a foreign language. • Bachelor’s degree with five years professional experience in study abroad advising and international education services in an academic setting, or Master’s degree and three years professional experience related to international education administration.
  • Personal experience studying abroad or extended period of working abroad, and a strong commitment to international education
  • Experience working with different kinds of study abroad opportunities and exchange programs, including faculty-led programs and third party programs, and/or international students.
  • Demonstrated experience of working with people from diverse backgrounds, and sensitivity to inter-cultural communication issues.
  • Knowledge of immigration rules and regulations related to F-1 and J-1 visas; ability to maintain the SEVIS database and serve as DSO and ARO.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of administrative and organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, planning and prioritizing, attention to detail, and dealing with sensitive and challenging issues.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to navigate standard software applications and databases.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Accurate typing; knowledge of and ability to use various computer programs (including Banner, Word, Excel, Power point, and Outlook) and the initiative to learn and adapt to changes in the system. • Excellent communication and public-relations skills; • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds; • Operating productively in contexts of cultural and human diversity; • Ability to follow oral and written directions; • Ability to retain confidentiality • Proficiency in at least one language other than English above the intermediate level.
  • Experience working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators.
  • Understanding of higher education systems the US and in other countries, curriculum and credit transfer issues, and financial aid requirements.
  • Knowledge of best practices in education abroad, and effective skills in marketing and promoting education abroad.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
