POSITION SUMMARY

The Coordinator for Risk Management coordinates the health center’s risk management activities to mitigate risk.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Compiles, reviews, and analyzes all incident reports, identifies areas of improvement, and works in conjunction with the Chief Compliance Officer to determine appropriate steps to mitigate risk.
  • Maintains risk management information system database of incident report occurrences.
  • Prepares various incident summary reports, as directed.
  • Assigns, coordinates, and follows up on incident report investigations and ensures appropriate documentation is submitted for reporting purposes.
  • Acts as a resource person for questions related to risk management.
  • Works with the Chief Compliance Officer to maintain compliance with appropriate regulatory requirements related to risk management.
  • Assists the Chief Compliance Officer in preparing educational documents to raise staff awareness to risk exposure as required and to address high risk, problem prone areas.
  • Maintains OSHA logs of employee accidents injury, needlesticks, etc.
  • Compiles documentation for the grants department to ensure FTCA requirements are met.
  • Performs tasks and duties associated with the clinical risk management program including risk identification, risk assessment, and risk mitigation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, public health, risk management, or similar OR the equivalent combination of experience.
  • Three years’ experience in healthcare with a focus on community health.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Earned Certified Professional in Patient Safety credential (CPPS.)
  • Licensed as a nurse in the State of Missouri.

Working Conditions

General working conditions are in a healthcare facility. As such, there is a potential exposure to virus, disease, and infection from patients while performing the duties of this job. May experience traumatic situations including psychiatric traumatized and deceased patients. Travel may be expected to community meetings, client homes, or other agencies.

Physical Demands

While performing duties of this job, employees are regularly required to set, walk, and stand; talk and hear; both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel, or operate standard office or clinical equipment; reach with hands and arms; and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.

Mental Demands

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read, analyze, and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve non-routine and complex problems; use math and mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or skills; perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks; work under intensive deadlines with frequent interruptions; and interact with others outside of their department.
