JOB SUMMARY:
Sangamo Therapeutics is seeking a temporary Buyer. Working within the Procurement Department, this position will be responsible for the researching, negotiating, and purchasing of all commodities. Will follow through on all PO’s submitted to closure Procure to Pay (P2P) lifecycle. Responsible for assisting with executing operating goals and objectives for the procurement function; developing, recommending, and implementing strategies to strengthen supply chain security and reduce costs. Responsible for supplier relationships and supplier network, annual contracts, purchasing best practices and continuous improvement within areas of responsibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Purchase order placement activities; including but not limited to daily transactional purchasing, requisition review minor edits, price verification with a processing turnaround time of 24-48 hours after requisition approval. Issue purchase orders and instructions to vendors. Assist in resolving order related issues, which involves working with internal departments including accounting, receiving, end users, and suppliers.
  • Continuously seek out cost savings opportunities and lead efforts to realize those savings. Documentation of savings, back order-lead time, follow up communication, goods receipt, returns, invoice payment (P2P lifecycle). Use and understanding of department’s standard communication, templates, and procedures.
  • Manage, develop, and monitor supplier partner relationships and network to ensure critical suppliers are performing optimally, meet appropriate cost structure and service level. Identify issues, recommend solutions, and implement action plans, as needed to resolve challenges. Develop long-term relationships with key vendors to support competitive positioning.
  • Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer (end-user) experience. Proactively strategize with business and technical owners to understand the needs of the organization.
  • Provide management monthly department key performance indicators of performance analytics and communicate variances from established metrics. Benchmark, identify, and report on opportunities/risks and recommend path forward solutions to ensure utilization of best practices in sourcing and supplier management.
  • Establish and manage best practices in contract management. Work with appropriate stakeholders (Legal, Research, Development, etc.) to establish effective processes and controls related to procurement contracts. Create and maintain an organized tracking system. Maintain Internal Controls compliance.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
  • BS in Supply Chain Management, Business, Science, or closely related discipline is preferred, or exhibit a strong background specifically in Pharmaceutical Purchasing with a minimum of three years’ experience.
  • Demonstrated basic understanding of accounting in relation to inventory.
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office, experience with e-requester and Sage ERP, preferred. Experience with Jaggaer a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
  • Must be proactive, results-oriented, and have strong attention to detail, along with an ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Demonstrated cross-functional team partnership.
  • Ability to develop and implement a well-thought-out procurement strategy in conjunction with management. Ability to quickly obtain knowledge and understanding of the company’s in-house operations.
  • Project Management and ability to work cross functionally.
  • Basic background in administration of contracts.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at any level.
  • Ability to drive aggressive implementation plans and schedules.
  • Must be able to problem solve and handle multiple tasks effectively.
  • Experience with MS Office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project.

Pay Range
The anticipated salary range is for candidates who will work in our San Francisco Bay Area work locations. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include, but are not limited to, the type and length of experience with the job type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. This salary range may not apply to remote positions that work in other states.
