This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by assisting the Quality Assurance & Data Integrity Unit (QADI) in driving process improvement, change management, performing data analysis, and implementing reporting solutions. In addition, this role includes support for the Financial Management Division’s (FMD) implementation, maintenance, and customer service of the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal) and related financial databases.
The Research Data Specialist I (RDS I) independently performs quantitative and qualitative data-driven research and is responsible for querying, mining and manipulation, data quality determination, statistical analysis, development, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of sensitive and complex financial database while working closely with Executive Management. The incumbent is a data analytics consultant who has a full understanding of appropriate methodologies and processes available to CDPH for the overall administration, oversight and monitoring of the Department’s respective budget, expenditure, and revenue assessment.
The incumbent works under the general direction of the Research Data Supervisor I of the Quality Assurance & Data Integrity Unit (QADI) within the Financial Management Division. (FMD).

FMD is located in downtown Sacramento in the East End Complex across from the beautiful State Capitol Park and World Peace Rose Garden.
