Description

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for assisting with the processing of payroll and all payroll related tasks ensuring timely entry of employee confidential data into the payroll system (Paylocity). Auditing/tracking of critical payroll information for accuracy.

JOB SUMMARY

1. Perform payroll processing in compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour standards, including verification of time cards, payroll changes (e.g., pay rate changes, job transfers, terminations) and paid time off
2. Completes onboarding and assists in maintaining employee personnel and confidential files
3. Access Payroll database to extract data and provide reports for multiple departments as needed.
4. Prepare routine correspondence as requested from State Agencies and Employment Verifications to be forwarded to Human Resources for authorization.
5. Communicate to employees and their direct supervisor, any missing information or other payroll issues so that payroll is processed accurately.
6. Responsible for auditing of monthly Benefits Invoices and contacting the Benefits Administrator with discrepancies.
7. Bi-weekly and monthly data updates to multiple cumulative State and Federal reports.
8. Responsible for entry and auditing of 3rd party disability payments as well as year-end reconciliation.
9. Assists with training of employees and Managers as well as acquisition groups. 

Requirements

1. Associate degree or equivalent with 2 years finance/payroll or related experience.
2. Knowledgeable of applicable state and federal pay and benefits, laws, and regulations; multi-state experience a plus
3. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels internally and externally
4. Strong computer (Microsoft Office) and analytical skills, experience with payroll processing preferred
5. Excellent attention to detail
6. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of company information internally and externally
