Job Purpose: The Payroll Manager is responsible for processing all aspects of weekly and semi-monthly payroll in multiple states for union and non-union employees. This person also completes reports and maintains records.
Duties:
* Manage and guarantee weekly disbursements of multi-state payroll, including garnishments, benefits and taxes to 100-200 employees consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws
* Determines payroll liabilities by entering tax information, 401k transfer and direct deposits, wage assignments and garnishments. Remits tax payment by collecting and verifying data; prepares reports and statements; initiating payment.
* Manage regular preparation of relevant management reports, including: weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.)
* Experience reconciling and preparing all related tax forms and reports.
* Ensure payroll is processed in an accurate, compliant and timely manner
* Coordinate the payroll activities of accounting staff
* Prepare payroll account reconciliations
* Ensure all payroll information and records are maintained in accordance with statutory requirements
* Support all internal and external audits related to payroll
* Manage and resolve issues relating to payroll production
* Communicate actively with Project Management, HR and Accounts Payable to review cross-departmental impacts and reconcile data sharing
* Experience reconciling and preparing all related tax forms and reports.
* Ensure systems are set-up and updated to reflect our current employee base, including wages, benefits, sick and vacation time in line with contracts (union and non-union)
* Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
