Vacancy: Health Services Consultant

Contracted Consultant Position: $80.00 Hourly-8 Hours Per Week

The Puerto Rican Family Institute- Head Start Program has an immediate opening for a Health Services Consultant at their Bronx location.

Description:

The Health Services Consultant is responsible for managing, planning, implementing and evaluating comprehensive health, dental, and environmental safety programs for children and their families enrolled in the Head Start program. This position involves extensive record keeping, organizing, problem-solving and time management. Development of health and safety procedures based on Head Start Performance Standards, best practices, and/or state regulations. It also involves interpretation and communication of complex regulations and medical data and terminology. Extensive interaction with children, staff, parents and the larger community is also required.

Qualifications:

• Have credentials as a registered nurse, a licensed practical nurse or;
• Bachelors or Master’s Degree in any of the following fields: public health, nursing, health education, maternal and child health, and public health administration.
• Demonstrates understanding of Head Start philosophy.
• Understanding of the principles, practices and current state of child health.
• Experience working with infants, toddlers or preschoolers.
• At least 1 year previous experience working with young children 0-5 and their families in as a health services consultant or other role specializing in health and safety services with young children and their families.
