PGH Wong Engineering, Inc. has a proud and lengthy history of delivering innovative, challenging, and complex projects. PGH Wong was established in 1985 on its extraordinary foundation in systems engineering and is now a full-service engineering, architecture, construction management, and program/project management consulting firm for public and private entities across the nation. The firm's primary focus is the U.S. national passenger rail sector.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Field
* Understand the obligations of the Construction Manager for staff safety and be professionally familiar with Health and Safety Plans in working on and around passenger rail systems
* Serve as a liaison between the Agency and Design-Build contractor.
* Coordinate access with the Design-Build contractor to minimize disruption to Bus and Rail Operations. Access will often be on the third shift of the day.
* Work with the project Design-Build contractor to monitor the QA performance and adjust as necessary.
* Work with the Design-Build contractor to develop construction site-specific access plans, then monitor performance and adjust as necessary.
* Be responsible for the safety and well being of PGH Wong's field personnel
Inspection
* Oversee work of the Resident Engineer and Field Inspectors with an understanding of both the technical and construction tasks at hand for installing a new communications system and managing the legacy communication system simultaneously
* Manage 3rd party inspection and project QA/QC.
* Manager/oversee special inspections.
* Be available 24 hours a day (when not on PTO) for critical decision making events while workers are in the field - a majority of the work will take place on third shift of the day
Miscellaneous
* Perform constructability reviews through design and construction.
* Identify deficiencies in work progress and cost vs. published schedule and cost based on earned value analysis
Qualifications and Experience:
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
* Minimum 15 Years experience in managing complex construction projects in the passenger rail industry
* A Professional Engineering license is strongly desired.
Skills and Competencies:
* A desire to achieve excellence.
* A desire to grow within a dynamic organization.
* Proficient in MS Office and PDF software.
* Understanding of Primavera P6 Schedule and cost estimating software
* Experience with Design-Build contracting and contracts.
