    Job Description
    Marist High School, a Catholic co-ed school located on the southside of Chicago, is currently accepting resumes for an anticipated School Counselor position for the 2024-25 academic year. This is a full-time position in the Counseling Department that consists of 5 school counselors, 2 social workers, 4 college and career counselors, 2 accommodations case managers and a counseling director. Marist High School is a Roman Catholic, coed high school, with a mission to make Jesus Christ known and loved in the Marist Brothers' tradition, while preparing students for higher education and life.     Minimum Requirements
    • Commitment to the Marist Brothers' principles as set forth in Marist's mission statement
    • Master's Degree in Counseling required
    • Illinois Professional Educator's License with School Counselor endorsement preferred
    • Previous school counseling experience preferred
    Minimum Competencies
    • Ability to establish and maintain strong interpersonal relationships with students, parents, faculty, and administrators
    • Understanding of the ASCA National Model
    • Ability to engage others in difficult conversations and manage conflict
    • Effective collaboration and communication skills
    Essential Responsibilities
    • Counseling and educating students in accordance with the mission of Marist High School
    • Meets with students on assigned caseload each semester
    • Provides individual student planning meetings, individual counseling, small group counseling, and crisis response
    • Delivers school counseling classroom lessons
    • Consults and collaborates with faculty to address student achievement and behavior concerns
    • Communicates with parents as it relates to academic performance and/or social-emotional well-being
    • Provides individualized letters of recommendation for college applications as needed
    • Makes appropriate school based and external referrals, when necessary
    • Develops strong working relationships with the dean of student success, school nurse, dean of students, attendance clerk, and campus ministers.
