Description Propulsion Mechanical Engineer (Propellers) Responsibilities include but are not limited to
In-service engineering agent for ship propeller systems
Ship Checks to develop cost estimates in developing Proposals
Ship Checks to develop Ship Alts and Engineering Changes for propeller system upgrades and repairs
Technical writing to develop work items, test procedures, technical manuals, training manuals, and technical proposals.
Provide support for R&D projects as well as production requirements.
Work with a Production team to help quickly identify and resolve problems
Computer Aided Design experience for drafting.
Review of mechanical system drawings and specifications.
Research, develop and apply advanced engineering concepts in the solution of complex manufacturing problems.
Reviews new designs for production ability, considering cost, quality, safety, delivery, production capabilities
Manage and prioritize multiple project timelines
Qualifications
Candidates must possess the following professional experience and qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering with 3 to 5 years of experience in the Maritime Industry
Test experience in writing test procedures and conducting test events
Technical writing experience in developing Work Items, Technical Manuals, Training Manuals, and Proposals
Ability to optimize, add new features and improve existing control systems.
Experience with field upgrades and startups.
Experience with mechanical troubleshooting.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
Desired Characteristics :
Familiar with maritime and Navy terminology, and have shipboard experience and a thorough knowledge of marine engineering and navigational systems
Experience with Ships propellers.
Shipboard propulsion, shafting and bearing experience is preferred.
