IOWA LAKES COMMUNITY COLLEGE is Hiring a Continuing Education Industry Trainer - Business & Industry Near Estherville, IA

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

This is a full-time position located on the Emmetsburg Campus. Primary responsibilities are to collaborate with business and industry to develop and deliver training programs. A successful candidate must be highly motivated and work with minimal supervision. The Industry Trainer is responsible for scheduling and promoting licensure and re-licensure (CEUs) programs and short-term training programs specifically for business and industry (construction, electrical, maintenance, welding, advanced manufacturing, automation and control, technology, human resources, accounting, etc.) based on demand from regional clients served. Position may require some evening and weekend hours, and occasional overnight travel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (% OF TIME):

Constant (67-100%)

* Develop and implement training programs for area companies.

* Locate, interview, hire, and evaluate instructors for various programs.

* Maintain appropriate records to document progress for reports.

* Locate and arrange facilities for classes.

* Maintain appropriate communications with customers, instructors, administrators, and other College staff.

* Build and maintain leadership classes for all area leaders.

Frequent (34-66%)

* Establish and maintain realistic budgets and monitor throughout the year.

* Develop and implement certificate programs for communication, customer service, leadership, transportation, and other related short-term training programs.

* Market programs to ensure adequate enrollments.

* Establish advisory committees as needed to provide expertise and guidance in curriculum development and assess program effectiveness.

* Personal leadership skill development for industry partners.

* Identify contract training structure and opportunities and implement within industry.

Occasional (10-33%)

* Apply for state approval for those programs requiring licensure.

* Host industry roundtables and/or conduct surveys to assess client and program effectiveness.

* Serve on selected voluntary committees of the college.

* Arrange and/or attend meetings when necessary.

* Perform other work duties as assigned and requested.

* Represent the College in a positive, professional manner to employees, visitors, and the general public.

* Must be enthusiastic, energetic, self-motivated, and creative with demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.

* Establish and maintain good working relationships with students, staff, administrators, and other contacts.

* Must develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of office procedures, telephone techniques, and appropriate equipment, and utilize correct English, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

* Ability to read and understand written and oral instructions or communications.

* Ability to efficiently perform tasks in an environment of frequent interruptions.

* Ability to assume responsibility, deal effectively with problems, and exercise good judgment when making decisions.

* Possess strong human relations skills and the ability to effectively relate to diverse personalities.

* Ability to make public presentations that are effective and well received.

* Ability to access, utilize, input, and retrieve information from a computer.

SPECIAL DEMANDS:

Sedentary to light work. Position involves sitting most of the time; exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally (10-33%). Stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, and carrying occasionally (10-33%). Walking, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motion frequently (34-66%). Talking, hearing, and viewing various types of close visual work constantly (67-100%) Required to travel utilizing personal vehicle. Must have valid driver's license, good driving record and provide proof of insurance.

Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon successful passage of a criminal background check. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Degree or experience in sales, business, agriculture, and transportation. Prior experience in training program development or instruction is preferred.

Salary: $60,778 for a 260-day contract
