Position: Director, Color and Trend Department: Design for Hydro Flask, OXO and Osprey Work Location: New York, NY, Bend, OR, Hybrid (work 3 days onsite) Hybrid Schedule: Helen of Troy associates enjoy the advantages and flexibility of a hybrid working model, allowing for in office 3 days minimum, and remote 2 days. Any changes to this working model would be communicated accordingly. What you will be doing: The Director of Color and Trend will play a crucial role in shaping the visual and aesthetic direction of our products across the Hydro Flask, OXO, and Osprey brands. This position requires a keen sense of color, design, and emerging fashion trends and a deep understanding of consumer segmentation. The ideal candidate will have a background in fashion or design, a passion for sustainability, and experience in forecasting trends across categories. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that the color, material and finish components of our product lines are modern and resonate with our target audiences, as well as help our brands offer retail segmentation. Color Palette Development: Develop seasonal color palettes for our product lines, ensuring they align with brand identities, and market and consumer trends. Product Design Collaboration: Work closely with the product design, product development, marketing, and sales teams to integrate trend insights into our seasonal product lines. Narratives: Craft narratives for internal and external partners that articulate the vision behind each seasonal palette. Sustainability Focus: Align color, trend and CMF choices with our dedication to sustainability and eco-friendly practices to protect our brand values and reinforce Hydro Flask, OXO and Osprey as values-lead brands. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with marketing, sales, and retail teams to gather input and build alignment and excitement around proposed color palettes and finishes. Team Management: Lead a team of color specialists and designers. Supplier Collaboration: Collaborate with suppliers to develop new colors, materials, and finishes. Trend Forecasting: Use trend forecasting services to identify future on-trend color and patterns. Performance Analysis: Monitor and evaluate graphics and color performance and provide recommendations for improvement and innovation. Trend Research and Analysis: Conduct extensive research to identify current and upcoming fashion and color trends in various industries, including fashion, design and lifestyle. Competitive Analysis: Monitor competitor products and industry developments to maintain a competitive position in color and trend development across our brands. Consumer Insights: Understand and integrate consumer insights tools like TURF analyses, brand equity trackers, social listening, and other relevant market research to incorporate target audience preferences and anticipate future trends that will resonate. External Partnerships: Collaborate with external fashion and design experts, trend forecasters, and other industry professionals to stay at the forefront of trends for our consumers. Innovation: Research new materials and finishes to remain at the forefront of CMF innovation. Identify new colors, materials, and finishes that can be introduced into the assortment. Skills needed to be successful in this role: Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally. Strong understanding of color theory and consumer insights. Proven ability to lead and inspire creative teams. Excellent communication skills and the ability to present trend insights to partners. Self-motivated and able to work independently when vital. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Design, Color Science, Fashion, or a related field 8 years of experience in color design, trend forecasting, or a similar role Extensive experience with color forecasting and analysis tools and methods Proficient with Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop Prior score on the Fansworth Munsell Hue Color Test Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis Preferred Qualifications: Experience with hard goods color development including injection-molded parts and powder coated steel Proficient with rendering software such as Keyshot In New York City, the standard base pay range for this role is $140,504.51 - $217,078.90 annually. This base pay range is specific to New York City and may not be applicable to other locations. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to location, experience, skill level, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
