Description

Position Summary:

FirstLine Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate 8th Grade Algebra I teacher. The ideal candidate will have the unique opportunity to inspire students across multiple locations with the beauty and practicality of algebra. As a member of our team, you'll travel between schools within our network, bringing your expertise, passion, and commitment to ensuring students have access to high-quality algebra instruction.

Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver Engaging Algebra I Instruction: Implement dynamic lesson plans aligned to the tier 1 curriculum thus allowing students to grasp key algebraic concepts.
  2. Foster Student Learning: Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel empowered to explore algebra, ask questions, and collaborate with their peers.
  3. Assessment and Feedback: Regularly assess student progress using formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback to guide their learning journey.
  4. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other teachers, instructional coaches, and administrators to share best practices.
  5. Parent and Community Engagement: Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers regarding student progress, goals, and opportunities for growth, fostering a strong partnership between home and school.
  6. Professional Development: Actively participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice, stay abreast of current educational trends, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our network.
  7. Flexibility and Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in response to the unique needs and challenges of each school community, ensuring a seamless transition between locations.

Requirements

TEACHER reports to: Network Content Leader

Desired Qualities & Characteristics:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid teaching certification/license in Algebra or Mathematics in Louisiana.
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in middle or high school mathematics.
  • Proven experience teaching algebra at the middle or high school level, with a track record of student achievement and engagement.
  • Strong knowledge of algebraic concepts and instructional strategies, with the ability to make abstract concepts accessible and relevant to students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and community stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education, with the ability to create culturally responsive learning environments.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to travel between school locations as needed.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, with a growth mindset and a passion for continuous improvement.
