Position Summary:

FirstLine Schools is currently seeking a talented, passionate, full time Network Content Lead for English Language Learners (ELL).  This person is responsible for providing direct and indirect program support to administration, teachers, and program support staff to provide consistent and effective services for students in the network who speak a language other than English. The ELL Network Content Lead advocates for the needs of students learning English at the school and network level and shares strategies to support English language development. 

Position Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development (across Kindergarten through eighth grades)

  • Research and evaluate appropriate strategies and programs that will address the needs of English Language Learners.
  • Coordinate and supervise the English Language Development (ELD) program for the district.
  • Oversee the adoption and subsequent maintenance of ELD curriculum.

Data Tracking, Assessment & Reporting

  • Monitor and report district and school progress towards achievement of English language proficiency. 
  • Ensure district compliance with state and federal ELL regulations and reporting of accurate ELL data as required by the state.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and Administrative Regulations.

Professional Development

  • Plan and coordinate programs and staff development efforts with administrators, teachers, and department staff. These activities will include building level and district-wide professional development classes, presentations, and workshops for certified and classified staff.
  • Regularly visit school sites to ensure program compliance and implementation of appropriate academic instruction.
  • Facilitate regular ELL staff meetings 
  • Assist in the network-wide planning of the ELL program.
  • Confer with colleagues, administrators, students, and/or parents when necessary.
  • Participate in various meetings for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information.

Requirements

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Louisiana ESL certification or eligibility (REQUIREMENT)
  • Five years teaching required preferably in a non-selective urban school
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated success in various methods of teaching English to non-native speakers
  • Knowledge of laws in regards to Title III (ESEA-1965 / ESSA-2015).
  • Demonstrated success in improving student achievement 
  • Demonstrated passion for content

  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to lead peers in a calm and resilient manner. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear. 
  • Light lifting of equipment may be required (up to 20 lbs.)

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. FirstLine Schools offers a comprehensive benefits package with a generous 403b plan.

Starting base salary: $63,500
