Job Description
The responsibility of an assistant in our Early Childhood program is to support the Lead Teacher in guiding the
students through a gentle, homey, play-based, developmentally appropriate program. The right person will:
● be able to understand and help the Lead Teacher during class,
● be willing to take direction,
● care for the aesthetics and safety of the classroom and outside environment,
● be capable of basic cooking to prepare a nourishing snack, and
● conduct a thorough clean-up of the space after each session.
Key Duties
● Support the Lead Teacher in realizing the daily curriculum by aiding with transitions, assisting with
activities, preparing materials, engaging the children in age-appropriate chores, preparing the
classroom/playground, and other duties as assigned by the Early Childhood lead teacher.
● Support the Lead Teacher with daily mealtime activities, including snack and lunch times.
● Be aware of the safety of all children during class time and emergency procedures.
● Lead the children in ways to achieve a quiet and restful classroom atmosphere conducive to the daily
nap.
● Tidying up the classroom after the parents and children leave.
● Other duties, as requested by the Lead Teacher and the School
Ideal Candidates Will:
● Demonstrate a strong ability to keep a close watch on children when playing outside and
indoors and to keep students safe
● Commit to working with parents, children, teachers, and community members in a
harmonious way
● Express an understanding of or openness to learning about Waldorf Education
● Have current first aid and CPR certifications
