AB SPECIALIST, REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
Job Description
General Summary:
The Adult Beverage (AB) Specialist, Regulatory Compliance is responsible for assisting store Associates in obtaining and maintaining all seller permits and employee-level licenses required to sell adult beverage and maintain compliance. The AB specialist will ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory issues through audits, coaching team members, compliance documentation and identification of regulations. The AB Specialist, Regulatory Compliance will interact with government agencies, legal, team members and field leadership on a regular basis.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Lead all required Associates through the process of obtaining the required seller permits and employee level licenses needed to legally sell adult beverage
2. Research, document and track all associated AB compliance requirements for each store including local, state and federal jurisdictional compliance requirements
3. Responsible for daily management of employee licenses and training records including initial issuance, turnover, renewals, and both companywide and governing agency reporting
4. Conduct conference calls with field leadership to train them on existing and new regulations and coach them on how to improvement compliance rates
5. Manage the payment and submission process for all seller permits and licenses with the field, key internal business partners at the SSC and external business partners including governing agencies
6. Partner with the Project Manager of Compliance Programs to lead IT initiatives and deployments to strengthen compliance programs and sales at the store level
7. Maintain company-wide reports, project trackers and employee training records to effectively manage compliance, training record documentation, and provide analysis for identifying trends to create and implement action plans with goal of improving compliance rates.
8. Conduct alcohol audits and score performance based on pre-determined criteria and report audit findings to store team members
9. Work with store team members, field and corporate management to develop and implement long-term compliance strategies
10. Report audit findings, identify and report new legislation, legal issues and compliance issues to both field and corporate management
11. Mitigate, question, and review citations and violations prior to resolving with payment
12. Work with government agencies to obtain clarification on regulations and to reduce assessed fines upon occurrence
13. Escalate in-store problems to appropriate corporate team members so that issues are immediately addressed to prevent/eliminate, fines, lost sales, vendor service issues and others as needed
14. Follows all Company policies and procedures and report suspected fraudulent activity to Loss Prevention
15. Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
Education: 4-year college degree preferred
Experience: Must have 1-2 years audit, coaching, training, compliance documentation tracking and regulatory experience with 3 years of retail experience. Prefer 3-5 years of audit, coaching, training, and adult beverage regulatory experience with 5 years of retail experience
Other Requirements or Factors - Candidate must have at least 1-2 years of experience with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook. Candidate must have 1-2 years' experience using License HQ software. In addition, the candidate should have excellent communication skills and attention to detail, the ability to work well with others, while maintaining professional conduct at all times as well as the ability to identify problem areas and report findings. They should be able to escalate problems appropriately and help influence P&L result through improved compliance. Position requires the ability for limited travel.
Must be fully vaccinated from COVID-19, as defined by the CDC, by the date of hire. Proof of vaccination required. Request for medical or religious accommodation must be made prior to the start date
