Job Title: Linux Engineer (AIX/Frames)

Job Description:

• 5 years experience is recommended for this role.
• Experience in managing IBM P and Solaris Hardware.
• Experience in Operating systems Upgrades and Patching.
• Ability to design and implement automated test; be proficient in creating readable documentation.
• Experience in managing VIOs , Control domain and Hardware management consoles.
• Experience in Storage and Network technologies.
• Experience in configuring and managing live partition mobility for LDOMs & LPARS
• Experience in testing new product releases.
• Experience in Ansible automation.
• Experience in configuring and Managing high availability and business continuity.
• Experience in AIX, VIOS, Solaris and RedHat Linux operating System.
• Pro-active patching of VIOs, Control Domains and Hardware management consoles.
• Proactive firmware upgrade on frames and Hardware management consoles.
• Support for production issues (Frames/VIOs/ Control Domains/Hardware management consoles and guest operating systems).
• Assist with failed hardware replacements that are either concurrent or non-concurrent with hardware support vendor.
• Can manage IBM OnPrem Cloud Power Enterprise Pools 2.0 and Cloud Management Console and can manage Ansible playbooks in raw mode with RBAC using Jenkins for all work identified that can be automated using dedicated AIX and Solaris Tower.
• Capacity Planning of IBM Power Frames and Solaris Frames to ensure client workload is balanced and within defined performance limits per design across multiple NICs, HBAs and CECs.
• Follow JIRA processes to track new VTMs via Skybox, test in Engineering Lab, publish RFT and then RFP for AIX, VIOS, HMC and Solaris.
• Manage CAP/RE process for any VTMs not released by vendor.
• Provide engineering support to AIX and Solaris SA teams.
• Provide assistance to Cyber Security Engineering for new/upgraded security agents.
• Storage SAN allocation from VIOS/Control Domains to LPARS/LDOMS.
• Storage migrations (Unmap/Map devices from VIOS/Control Domains to LPARS/LDOMS)
• Problem trouble shooting SAN/Network issues that are managed via VIOS and Control Domains, Disaster recovery support.
• Frame/LPAR/LDOMs consolidations and migrations (LPM/Offline)
• Remote assist with hardware upgrade (e.g. CPU, memory)
• Support for Data center facilities changes (Frame relocation)
• Support for Network and storage changes - For Frames/ VIOs/Control domains & Hardware Management console.
• Frames/VIOs/Control domains & Hardware Management – Decommission
• New site / data center : Frame ,VIO domain controller configurations
• POD installs/frame additions.
• Technology Refresh - new frame configuration/validation/testing
• Provisioning physical Frames (configuration/testing/checks)
• Design Document: Frame Networking, cabling, Storage and switch port documentation
• Co-ordination of Frame provisioning as per above task (standard document)
• Frame infrastructure configuration/testing/validation
• In place upgrade for VIOS, Control Domain Operating Systems and RHEL Unix servers patching
• BAU support for Uplogix (Lantronix) out-of-band management devices, including managing break-fix and responding to user requests/incidents.
