We are hiring for the following:

Position: Regional Registered Nurse

Schedule: 36-40 hours per week, shifts vary (AM or PM)

Location: Travel Position mainly within the NC sites

Pay Rate: 50/hr.

Responsibilities:

• Provide patient care including initial examination upon entry into the correctional facility, day-to-day medical care, and respond to medical emergencies
• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines, MEDIKO and facility policies, and accepted nursing protocols and procedures
• Coordinate services with other patient care units/areas and provide nursing and patient care services as appropriate
• Monitor all off-site referrals and provide case management services
• Prepare, monitor and coordinate the daily patient care activities of the unit to ensure all physician orders are implemented and all patient encounters are documented
• Provide outstanding customer service to all customers including, but not limited to, patients, correctional facility staff, internal employees and other individuals providing services to MEDIKO and its clients
• Travel to each facility location to provide nursing and management support
• Educate facility leadership and nursing department team members
• Collaborate with facility and corporate management team members to achieve excellent clinical outcomes
• Potentially have to supervise and delegate to Unlicensed Assisted Personnel such as CMA, RMA, Med Tech, or Certified Med Aide, per the State Board of Nursing and their scope of practice and any state requirements, where the RN and UAP are working together.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited nursing program – RN
• Active state/commonwealth RN license
• Active CPR/BLS certificate required (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved)
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in an acute care setting, emergency room or correctional setting preferred
• Able to operate standard office equipment to include computer, copier, fax, and telephone, and standard medical facility equipment to include, but not limited to AED, EKG, blood pressure, oxygen, glucometer, pulse oximeter, and other medical equipment, as applicable
