Calvert School is Hiring a Director of Auxiliary Programs Near Baltimore, MD

Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school, has an opening for a full-time Director of Auxiliary Programs. Calvert School is dedicated to educating girls and boys through its time-tested method of teaching and its rigorous curriculum. Particular emphasis is given to mastering essential skills, inspiring a lifelong love of learning, and instilling enthusiasm, responsibility and self-discipline. Calvert School is located in Tuscany-Canterbury, a residential neighborhood in Baltimore City, just north of Johns Hopkins University and south of Loyola University Maryland, accessible from Charles Street and I-83.

The Director of Auxiliary Programs will play a pivotal role in the administration and management of extra-curricular and supplementary programs at Calvert School. The Director will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing various programs that complement the school's academic curriculum, enhance student experiences, and support the overall mission of the School. This is a 12-month position that will require some weekend and evening hours.

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Oversees after-school club offerings and summer camp programs. Identifies additional opportunities for auxiliary programs that align with the school's mission, values, and educational objectives.
  • Develops innovative and engaging programs that will enrich the current after-school and club programs and expand the program with new offerings and school community events.
  • Creates long-term strategic plans for auxiliary programs that support the school's growth and sustainability.
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of auxiliary programs, including scheduling, staffing, budgeting, and facilities management.
  • Partners with the Communications Department to develop marketing strategies and promotional materials to attract students, families, and community members to auxiliary programs.
  • Assures compliance with current Maryland Office of Child Care Licensing, Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), Maryland Department of Health, and local education agency requirements.

Qualifications and education are below:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, business administration, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in program management, preferably in an educational or non-profit setting.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed to oversee program activities and events.
