Position Summary:

We have an exciting position, Human Resources Specialist, within our growing Human Resources Function. This role is an integral part of our newly reimagined Shared Service department, whose mission it is to support our associates, their families, and our leaders throughout the employee career cycle. Making it easy for our teams to be the best at what they do, while our Shared Services team takes care of the rest.

This role will have a primary focus of collaborating with HR to centralize enterprise-wide processes, identify improvement opportunities, and deliver a superior customer experience for the HR Teams and our associates. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to work among many functions.

The Human Resources Specialist position will be a foundational member of our centralized Human Resources team, whose responsibilities will be to perform work in a variety of concentrations, including unemployment claims, relocation of associates, background checks, and special projects assigned based on business needs. This position will work closely with Leadership in a proactive, collaborative approach to ensure the processes are consistent, compliant, and accurate to support sustained business success and impact associate engagement in a positive way.

This is a remote position.

Salary: $58,600 – $79,000

Major Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with HR Team (Field and Corporate) and third-party vendors on creating, managing, and administering centralized HR processes for the organization.
  • Coordinate with team members on process documentation for reference and training material.
  • Manage the decision-making process for unemployment claims by providing information to our third-party vendor, communicating with field operations, and coordinating with HR Partners.
  • Facilitate additional unemployment claims activity as it relates to appeals and hearings, fraudulent and wrongful claims, and reporting to confirm accuracy of claim activity.
  • Coordinate with hiring managers and the recruiting team on the background checks of candidates and manage decision-making based on facts provided with assistance from other departments as needed.
  • Collaborate with operations, HR Partners and our vendor to understand the needs of the associate and the company as it relates to relocation of our associates and their families.
  • Manage the compliance with i9 filings for new hires by collaborating with hiring managers and our third-party vendor to ensure proper completion of required documentation.
  • Special Assignments and tasks as assigned by the Director of Shared Services, Director of Corporate HR, and Manager of Centralized HR such as serving on process improvement teams, coordination of small scope short term projects, collaboration with cross functional teams to identify solutions for long term initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of Human Resources experience preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and effectively communicate Human Resources policies, procedures and laws.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Strong Customer Service skills
  • Skilled in operation of variety of computer software programs, including Microsoft Suite. An understanding of enterprise wide HRIS systems a plus.
  • Ability to collect, compile, and analyze information and data.
  • Ability to be a team player to work across many functions of the business.
  • High-level organizational skills and experience working with outside vendors.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment and education) are required.
