Title: Air Force Civil Engineer SME

Location: Remote

Role: The Air Force Civil Engineer SME (CE SME) is a member of a project team responsible for creating or updating online, classroom, and hybrid courses for US Air Force personnel working in the civil engineering career field. The CE SME works with instructional designers and course developers, advising them on content applicable to USAF CE disciplines. Duties:

• Attend daily and other period customer meetings focused on USAF CE force development and training. This includes interaction with the customer and APV Project Manager (PM) to identify and clarify work requirements for the contract team.
• Advise the customer on USAF CE training and force development matters; review designated existing courses to identify areas where content is outdated.
• Provide USAF CE subject matter expertise to the project team, helping the PM, instructional designers and course developers to identify applicable references containing job-specific tasks/sub-tasks, create scenarios that challenge learners, develop/proof questions for end-of-course/module exams and knowledge checks, and ensure the best CE-relevant content is integrated into all courses.
• Participate in the functional testing of courseware on the LMS’s development and learner-facing environments, as well as user/group tests of courses conducted with members of the targeted learner community.
• Help team members resolve user-reported issues with course content or functionality.
• Review user documentation on how to use the LMS(s) to access and complete the customer’s courseware. This may include contributing to creation of course-specific user guides, tutorials, and participating in training sessions for users.
• Assist with reports and analytics on user activity, course completion rates, assessment results, and other relevant metrics to assist the customer in evaluating the effectiveness of training programs and identifying areas for improvement.
• Participate in team meetings to remain abreast of project timelines and anticipate CE SME requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Technical:

• Qualifications/certification in AF CE tasks in one or more USAF Specialty Codes from 3E0 through 3E9.
• Organized and detail oriented, able to simultaneously manage multiple tasks.

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred.

Experience:

• Fifteen (15) or more years of service in the USAF in the CE career field. Government civilians with relevant AF CE experience are eligible for this position.
